Justin Haskins: Democrat Rashida Tlaib proposes disastrous cash giveaway -- guess who’s going to pay for it? | Fox News

Far-left congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., has released a plan that would pay lower- and middle-income Americans thousands of dollars every month—in exchange for doing absolutely nothing. The Washington Post reports, “Tlaib’s bill would give direct cash help to those at the bottom of the income distribution — annually offering $3,000 to individuals and $6,000 to families — in an attempt to reduce poverty in the United States and bolster the wages of the poor.”
MEDIA'S D-DAY ASSAULT ON TRUMP
In an interview with a Fox affiliate in Detroit, Tlaib called her plan “earned income tax credits on steroids.”
Someone needs to take an economics course. Or three.

We need to raise taxes to where we're paying for our spending. They're not going to cut spending. We now borrow a trillion a year to pay for Bush + Trump tax cuts.

Where spending is not going to be slashed by a trillion, the rational response is to raise taxes back to a level that this spending can be paid for properly. If that's painful, then is the time to talk about cutting spending. And you know...they'd probably be more successful.

Some of these dem candidates seriously worry me. They seem to think money grows on trees. If you want me to go along with your plan, pitch it to me with the honest cost. I'm willing, if it's right. But they're brazenly throwing out X trillion dollar numbers without bothering to explain how that can safely mesh with an already trillion a year deficit.

Bottom line: we can't just keep borrowing at this rate, let alone more.

Well if that bill becomes law I'm moving my family to America.

You sure do.

That's a right vapid response, care to expound upon it. As my link provides a pretty good explanation why her idea is quite stupid. Care to refute it or is all you have immature commentary?

The US spends a lot less on anti-poverty programs than most rich countries, and the LIFT Act would substantially remedy that.

To no avail but to wreck the dollar even further and the economy would slide off a cliff.

You need to read more carefully. It's 6k a year, not a month. That's $500 a month.

Personally, I'd prefer to see wages increase. Corporate profits are high enough to afford it.

The most pro-growth proposal I've seen in a long time.

A valid point, I was running the final alexander raid (Final Fantasy 14)when I posted that, I am most embarrassed and I thank you for pointing that out.

We are the only country in the world that imports poverty. California does, or soon will allow illegals access to tax payer funded medical. That means every cancer patient in the world will beat a path to California for free care.

"I will pay you $1000 a month, each, for the rest of your life - taking the money from the treasury - as much as over half a million dollars during your lifetime - if you vote for me for president."

^ The boldest offer to buy votes ever!

The Grand Champion of vote buying is currently Donald Trump, who is actually buying farmers off as we type.

I'd probably vote to try it for 3 years and see if it hurts or harms the populace. If it was obvious after one year that it "Ain't working" then it's out-of-here.

The GOP's used it a few times already.

Or wait, no. They take money from our children and grandchildren to finance tax cuts for themselves....or the better off of themselves.

~ Another great way to promote dependence on big government . It's called "Communism" folks ...
Maybe the new Democrats chant should be " Better to be red than dead !" 😁🎈

No, actually, "at a time of record inequality because of our taking on $20 trillion in debt to give you tax cuts, we'll give you ANOTHER borrowed tax cut and trillions of dollars if you are extremely rich", that's a bolder offer to buy votes.

"We'll fight to destroy the planet's climate and deny science so you can profit from pollution", "we'll add a clause prohibiting the government from negotiating discounts on drugs to give you hundreds of a billions a year more because you are our top donor industry", those are bolder offers to buy votes. People getting $3K/year, not so bold. Not bold at all.

Both sides do it. That's because the average voter of all stripes, is willing to whore themselves out to candidates.

They buy our votes with tax payer dollars.

Totally wrong to allow to happen.

Giving money to people who spend is pro-growth.

Are you saying the people they took it from wouldn't have spent in in a pro-growth way?
