Why do racist democrats try to blame their history on republicans?

If by "economy", you mean "slavery", then yeah. I was being sarcastic in my other post - because those are the things that conservatives normally try to say to avoid having to admit it was about slavery.

Nobody cares about the political officiations and goals from 150 years ago. Heck Bill Buckley would not recognize the current Republican Party, never mind Abraham Lincoln. So why start a threat about nothing......TO TROLL THE FORUM. Thats why.

Nothing destroys an economy more than slavery, just ask the socialists. In truth slavery was a great poison, a horrible malady that the South faced, while the North multiplied in numbers to fill the need for factory workers.

To sum up:

I do not see one argument based on anything other than emotion, which is to be expected from the left these days.

Article 1. Did the democrats do slavery? Yes, obviously only they did because the republicans were the first people in world history to successfully oppose slavery

I would replace ' World ' with ' America ' because most of the rest of the World ( First World Nations ) had abolished slavery decades before America did.

I don't believe either. The conditioning of blacks can be likened to a dog owner using an electric fence to keep a dog to the yard. The owner wants to shelter the dog - the dog can only go beyond the yard for owner-approved vet appointments, etc. The owner thinks the dog is incapable of handling the responsibility of going outside the yard. Evil white dogs are out to get him. Only with the owner's help and assistance can the dog go beyond the yard. The dog needs pity in the press, affirmative action, and so on.

I certainly consider the dog capable of going outside the yard. My thinking is that the dog itself has been made fearful of going outside the yard by its owner, therefore is less likely to use its personal power and personal intelligence to leave the yard. Its belief in itself - its self-esteem, is lessened. It lets its owner decide. It waits around.

As far as being cared for by people (or owners) that know better, the issue isn't the dog's intelligence or it's capability, but it's belief in itself. No race should need to be cared for by another race. If this were true, then whites should be calling on Asians to take care of them, since Asians are more successful socially. If people believe whites should take care of blacks, then they should also believe Asians should take care of whites. I wouldn't go in for the racial inferiority complex that would create, so I can't buy into that concept.

This thread is absolutely true. The democrat party is in fact the anti black party when you look at history. And-------------BTW they were the party that voted against the civil rights act and letting black people vote.

That wasn't a 'graduation ceremony'. It was an entirely separate event organised by the students, not the university. Facts, old chap; it helps if you know them.

Why do people motivated to join in political debate have such a weak grasp of history, and not know, for example, that Lincoln was a moderate liberal, or how the Civil War shaped the political parties through the end of the 19th Century and into the 20th, until the parties made a gradual about face, with liberals becoming Democrats and conservatives becoming Republicans instead of the other way around, as it had been?

MLK must be making about 150 rpm in his grave. The separate graduations, and the black only areas on campus is what he fought against all his life.
