Senator Tammy Duckworth Says Trump Has A ‘Yellow Streak Down His Back’

The military veteran called out the president for what he said to Piers Morgan about not serving in the Vietnam War.

"Bone-spurs" didn't prevent Trump from playing sports in his school at draft age. The baseball and basketball teams.

A senator who lost both her legs while serving in the military during the Iraq War isn’t impressed by the comments of a president who skipped out of an earlier war because of bone spurs. On Wednesday, President Donald Trump told “Good Morning Britain” host Piers Morgan that he “would not have minded serving” in the Vietnam War. At the time, however, he managed to avoid the draft when a podiatrist diagnosed him with bone spurs that he may not actually have had. (The podiatrist’s daughters recently suggested that it was all a favor to their dad’s landlord, who happened to be Trump’s father.) Trump’s remarks inspired the ire of Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), who had both legs amputated due to injuries suffered in Iraq in 2004. First, she called out the president for avoiding military service to his country.....

#CadetBoneSpurs: no one cares whether you were a “fan” of the Vietnam War. No one
believes you were medically unfit to serve. You used your wealth & privilege to avoid
serving your country five times, forcing another American to serve in your place each time.

Then she went after Trump for taking money away from current military members and their families in order to pay for his pet projects.....

@SenDuckworth
Now, you're stealing billions from @DeptofDefense's budget to fund a wall you promised Mexico
would pay for. You're failing to support military families by taking away caregiver funding. You're
kicking out Americans who *are* willing to serve only because they're transgender.

Then for all intents and purposes, she called the president a coward ― though not in those exact words.....

These comments only make one thing clear: @realDonaldTrump got his deferments for the wrong thing.
They shouldn't have been for his disappearing, imaginary bone spurs—they should have been for that
yellow streak down his back. At least that would have been a real condition.

So far, Trump hasn’t responded ― but it’s just a matter of when, right?

Ouch. That left a mark and rightfully so. I agree with Lieutenant Colonel/Senator Duckworth 110%. Trump is a total poltroon who purchased his personal safety at the expense of others.

Uh oh. Just wait till Macho Man wakes up this morning and gets on his twitter...….

Let's not forget Donald Trump also does not like Vietnam vets who were captured. That pampered coward wouldn't have lasted a day in a POW camp.

I'm not sure what you're yawning about. Is it that tRump and his family are scam artists from way back; that his father taught him young how to game the system … and he's been at it ALL his life and still is? I guess tRump privilege and cowardice is so well known that it has become something to yawn about.

Certainly you're not yawning at a United States Senator who's has and still is serving her country with honor; She retired as Lieutenant Colonel and the recipient of the Purple Hart (wounded in action), Air Medal (single acts of heroism) and Army Commendation Medal (Sustained Act of Heroism). You certainly would not disgrace yourself by yawning at such a woman of valor and patriot especially while attempting to support the lowest slug coward ever to reside in OUR White House.

Sorry, but the "draft dodging" nonsense has already been used...and dismissed. Remember Bill Clinton?

Spouting off about Trump is a nothingburger.

So in other words Trump dodging the draft is okay, so Bill Clinton dodging the draft is okay in your world?

I salute this woman for her tremendous sacrifice and service, but she's ignorant of the facts surrounding Trump, but I realize fake news sells with Trump haters.

I find it disturbing for a United States Senator to publicly label the President of the United States of America a "coward."

This does not help our country's standing in the world.

I also think that even some thoughtful supporters of hers may feel that she should have refrained from such invective.

So in other words Trump dodging the draft is okay, so Bill Clinton dodging the draft is okay in your world?

The left and their propensity to pull the facts out of the wazoo.

There is no legitimate proof that Clinton or Trump dodged the draft.
Where the hell do you guys come up with this stuff?

IF they both failed to report for duty and hid in Canada or MX. you'd have a point, but both presidents used the advantages given to them by the process of legal deferment; health, student, c/o, and some were lucky enough to have a high draft number like DJT.

Yea, facts to this one do not matter.

This does not help our country's standing in the world.
It is Trump that does not help the standing of our nation in the world.

Bill Clinton avoided service and almost renounced his citizenship to do it. Bernie Sanders claimed conscientious objector status. Haven't you notice how devout Bernie is?:lamo

Blumenthal lied repeatedly about serving and the "concerned" Democrats elected him anyway.

You do? We had the speaker of the house purportedly say she wants to see the POTUS locked up.
This does not help our country's standing in the world.

Let's not sugar coat it. Our own ignorant citizens feigning moral indignation is what is lowering our country's standing with the world.

She should but she won't.
Butt hurt sore losers, partisan resistors, who put their politics ahead of what is good for this country, aren't going to stop now...
Ironic that they should label this president a draft dodging coward.
I was from that era. Men like Clinton and Trump didn't do anything illegal but use the advantages of a legal deferment. There is NOTHING cowardly about that.

Big shock. People with no values don't care about a lack of values. What else do you yawn at? Murder? Genocide? Torture? Yawn.

I see the left is using this thread to show the double standard, moral relativism, and blatant hypocrisy again... and then they wonder why we laugh.

ETA:
SSDD; just more partisan blather. Tossing :bs at the wall, hoping it sticks.

So, trump did not get a 'bone spurs' exemption you claim? Why am I talking to you?

I don't see how Democrats can jump all over Trump for avoiding the draft when Bill Clinton did basically the same thing. Why is it right for Bill Clinton to dodge the draft and it isn't for Trump. Perhaps it is all about the D and the R next to their names.

As a Vietnam Vet I don't give a dang about either one dodging or avoiding the draft or the war itself. I'd rather focus on each's presidential abilities. I know Bill Clinton left this country in better shape once he left office than when he first entered. I wonder if Trump will. That to me is much more important than dodging, evading the Vietnam War. American involvement ended in Vietnam 46 years ago and 44 years ago, South Vietnam fell to the communist North as did Laos and Cambodia.

I fail to see what that has to do with the here and now.

Agree! She gets no pass from me or any respect.

It wasn't right for Bill Clinton and PLEANTY was said about it when he was President, but I don't believe Clinton ever dismissed the Viet Nam War the way tRump did in this interview, which is what Senator Duckworth was responding to.

Bill protested against the Vietnam War while in England. Kind of sounds like a D protecting a D while trashing an R. That's today's politics in a nut shell. You're right about the R's trashing Bill for that though.

I believe that most of her thoughtful supporters feel that our country's standing would have been better protected if Trump had decided to not run for office
