Dems passing bills, GOP ignoring them

Why are you worried about Trump? He doesn't pass anything until Congress puts it on his desk.

Why are the Dems talking to Trump about infrastructure? He doesn't pass anything until Congress puts it on his desk.

If the Dems want to put stuff on Trump's desk, they should be talking to the Senate, don't you think? If they aren't, then it stands to reason that they aren't really serious about getting anything passed.

Sounds to me like Trump's right. They aren't getting anything done in Congress.

Actually Trump controls McConnell and McConnell is the one holding up Dem bills from going to Trump's desk. I have read that McConnell has already held up over 100 items sent to him by the Dems. So why go to McConnell to try and get things done. Go to the one who controls everything McConnell does which is Trump. Makes sense to me, but maybe not to you.

McConnell ripped a page right out of Harry Reid's playbook. Who'd a thunk.

I swear, that is all you Trumpsters have is deflection. When you can not come up with a real argument, deflect, deflect, deflect. I thought we were past that crap.

LOL!!

No, Trump doesn't control McConnell. Politics, big money donors and lobbyists control McConnell.

If Trump controlled McConnell, Obamacare would be history.

There is this thing called Leadership. When things are getting bogged down, a president who is a leader steps in and gets the two branches working together again.

I'm seeing none of that by Trump. In fact, I'm seeing the opposite. Every day all he does is troll democrats. This President speaks only to his base, he cares about no one else. In fact, he only cares about his base to the extent they will vote for him. In truth, he cares about no one but himself.

McConnell can't use the bathroom without permission from Trump, although you are right about big money donors. The biggest of those are the Russians. And if not for McCain, the GOP would have gotten rid of the ACA.

What is bogged down? Has Pelosi proposed some kind of infrastructure legislation? Has the House voted on it? Has she presented anything to the Senate for them to consider? Has she held any discussions with Senate leaders?

I see no reason for Trump to even be involved in this until the House and the Senate do their jobs.

Now...If Pelosi runs into problems getting the Senate to look at her legislation, THEN it's okay for her to go ask the President to step in and take action...whether it's putting pressure on the Senate or putting pressure on her.

Nonsense

although you are right about big money donors. The biggest of those are the Russians.

Really? How much money have "the Russians" (hint: McConnell has gotten all of his donations from US citizens) given McConnell compared to, say, investment and securities firms?

And if not for McCain, the GOP would have gotten rid of the ACA.

Do you seriously think McConnell wasn't aware of and didn't approve of what McCain did? Don't be naive. Nothing happens in the Senate that McConnell doesn't plan for ahead of time. Just like nothing happens in the House without Pelosi orchestrating it.

Obamacare would be history.

Trump said Obamacare is imploding early in 2017(LOL)

Has it "imploded" yet?

Democrats in Congress are getting things done. Trump and Republicans are just ignoring them.

House Democrats are passing bills at a rapid pace, while Trump complains they’re “getting nothing done.”

US President Donald Trump listens while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi speaks.

Contrary to what the "Liar in Chief" says, the Democrat House is passing legislation at a rapid pace. This House legislation then gets buried in the desk of GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McTurtle.

A list of House bills passed since January is available @ the link above.

You must be new to politics. Google Harry Reid. The House can pass all the partisan legislation it wants, but nothing gets through the senate without 60 votes. If House democrats actually want to legislate, they need to pass bipartisan legislation that has a chance in the Senate. Since they arent, Trump is right. They are a do nothing congress.

Pointing out to Rogue Valley that both parties do this is not deflection, it's education.

Whether one agrees or not is irrelevant, it is politics.

Actually the bills need to be put before the Senate so they can make changes then work with the House to modify the Bills and get it approved and sent on to the President. That is not what is happening. Both houses of Congress need to do their job, if they don't want to then the voters need to replace them

What is bogged down? Has Pelosi proposed some kind of infrastructure legislation?

Pelosi and Schumer approached the president to find aggreement on how to shape legislation. Trump had no intention of doing it, and hid behind "not doing anything until congress stops investigating".

.

You see no reason. You can't even see.

I don't think you understand how legislation, on something major like infrastructure, works. Given that Trump has been shouting for a long time he wants and infrastructure bill, given the depth, size, complexity of infrastructure projects, it is appropriate for congress to approach him to find common ground as how to shape the legislation.
It makes perfect sense they would do that, and they did that, but Trump had a temper tantrum, crybabied about "investigations".

As Schumer pointed it, in fact, Trump had no clue about how to do infrastructure, he had nothing prepared on it, he didn't get anyone in his staff to come up with anything, he didnt consult with anyone, he, in fact, on infrastruction, DID NOTHING. On major legislation, it is appropriate for the prez to do this.

Pelosi and Schumer approached him to find out what he had in mind, to provide Pelosi and Schumer with the framework so they could shape legislation. Things like, locations, projects, priorities. On something that major you don't just write up 2000 pages and give to the prez to sign, that's nuts. You work with the prez to find common ground, so that when all the work is done, you know the prez is going to sign.

Now...If Pelosi runs into problems getting the Senate to look at her legislation, THEN it's okay for her to go ask the President to step in and take action...whether it's putting pressure on the Senate or putting pressure on her.

There are tons of bills passed by the house, and sent over to the senate to take the next step. No one expects all of them, but at least some of them. Today, senate is doing nothing on all of them. Same with Trump, he's not doing anything because of the investigation.

No prior president did that. Nixon and Clinton signed many bills while being investigated.

The Dems don't need to go to Trump to decide how to "shape the legislation". They need to go to the Senate. If they can't get the Senate on board, then there's no point in talking to Trump.

After they've "shaped the legislation", they can go talk to Trump.

After they "shaped the legislation"? What, after they give the GOP everything it wants? We all know that the GOP will not compromise ANYTHING, as to do so they fell they will lose their base. So why not just have the GOP write a bill, maybe because as we have seen with health care, they have no one who can write any bill except for tax cuts for the wealthy. They just do not know how to govern and that means writing bills that both sides can agree on, you know, compromise. I once voted pretty much all GOP, but have not since the ultra right wing took over the party and made it the party of people like trump.

Nobody ever said writing legislation...much less getting it passed...is easy. But if anyone can do it, it's professionals like Nancy and Chuck, don't you think?

Not without McConnell and the Senate and McConnell won't let anything onto the floor unless Trump gives him the go ahead. The House is sending the Senate Bills and McConnell is sitting on them. He also said if the Dems win in 2020, nothing will get past the Senate, NOTHING.

What is it that democrats compromise on?

I will give you the best example ever, When the Dems were trying to pass the ACA, The Dems gave approval to over 200 GOP amendments including eliminating the Government option. All the time the GOP kept saying if you just approve this you will get our votes. In the end after the Dems compromised so much and they got zero GOP votes for a health care plan that was the one developed by a GOP think tank. So yes, the Dems will compromise, but the GOP will not. Why, because their base sees it as losing and they can not stand losing, even if the country would win.

Nonsense.

McConnell doesn't do what Trump tells him to do. McConnell only does what his donors want him to do.

Maybe he and Nancy should get their donors talking to each other. Then something will get done. Of course, it won't be for the good of the citizen...just for the good of the donor.

This is probably the new norm when one party controls the house, the other the senate. Ex-Democratic Senate Majority Reid did the same thing, tabling a bit more than 300 plus Republican house passed bills between 2011-2014 when the Democrats controlled the senate.

The problem was/is both Reid and McConnell are/were way to partisan for this country's good.

the house spamming out trash doesn't mean that it will get voted on.
they should try working with the senate to actually get something passed instead of all
their political grandstanding and whining.

then again you have to have a leader in the house that will work with the senate and well
pelosi is a piss poor leader and couldn't lead anyone out of a wet paper bag.
