So it's Obama's fault that we got Trump, whom you say is the greatest President in history? Perhaps you should write him a letter thanking him?

This is the ultimate "blame Obama." It's his fault that we got Trump, even though Trump is awesome and would have won anyway because of his sheer awesomeness.

Flesh out your thoughts a little better. It generally takes more than 2 incomplete sentences to start a thread that will involve any sort of real discussion.

For instance, I'm not going to address the OP, because I have no idea what it is you're trying to get across.

The above answer is just as bad as your OP.

Unsure if it is your intention to be deliberately obtuse or otherwise, but until you outline what you think needs to happen to reform our citizenry we have little to discuss.

There needs to be something, an idea of yours suggesting what is needed for "Americans need to learn what it is to be an American."

Until you put that forth, bumper sticker answers are not going to do much for the discussion.
 
Well I do think that with the exception of Loyalists pining for their lost King way back at the country's beginnings I have never seen such a large swatch of America fixated on the notion of going backwards. Rural America wants to shrug off the looming threat posed by the Industrial Farm. I sort of get that one and have some respect for it. Rust belt America literally wants the jobs "their fathers" had. China is eliminating those jobs for God sake. They are obsolete. China will have more of them than we ever will because their population is much much larger than ours.

Its not just the jobs that middle America craves, its the entire socio-economic structure that was built around them. Think the movie The Deer Hunter. Guys going to the plant and leading their entire lives on a rigorously regimented and comfy schedule. They had their watering hole meeting places. They had bar nights, bowling nights, scheduled sex with their spouses that were dutifully home in their kitchens preparing the dinner that they had on yet another regimented schedule. There was the annual hunting trip, the annual vacation trip to the beech or to Aunt Ester and her mate's place.They had one job and wify-poo at home in the kitchen. The irregularities in their lives were whether the Eagles or the Steelers won or lost that weekend and the resultant discussions that would ensue or a spring coming through the cushion of the lazy-boy in the living room. Its gone people. Its done and dusted.

Minorities knew" their places" and the folks who held those factory jobs never ran into anybody he had to deal with for whom English was a second language. Forget it. Its done. Blaming globalization is laughably absurd. Globalization is a convenient handle for them to use because they really don't want to blame PROGRESS. Nobody wants to be against progress because then you not only are a dope, you sound like a dope. The sooner we stop trying to appease this crowd the better of we will be and the better off THEY will be.

You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube and you should not even want to.
