And your response is why a public salary policy a la Finland is never going to happen here. American sentiment about the holy secrecy over one's salary is so deeply ingrained here that whoever proposes that bill will be tossed out of office by an angry mob one hour after submitting it to floor vote.
But I don't believe it's rational, and I think that the problems that rise up out of one's salary becoming known is specifically because everybody's salaries are secret.
I do acknowledge, however, that if everybody's salaries became public, day one would look a lot like that South Park episode where everybody's online personas were connected with their real life identities.
