US And Canada Reach Deal To Lift Tariffs On Each Other - so Canada got the tariffs that the us was charging Canada reversed on Steel and Aluminum and Canada dropped the tariffs they threw on because of Ding bats tariff war on Canada/ So can anyone of you people on the right understand what President Nutso gained . Well nothing he lost in fact for the country . Just to get back to the quid pro quo With tariffs that Canada dumped on scum bag. WE had to give up our tariffs that protected our steel and aluminum industry. What a fricken insane loser, this creep is. He's being forced to do the same with Mexico because he is stupid to have started this tariff crap in the first place. You own this clown, he is your leader.

You will now see your standard of living go down the ****ter, while scum bags tariff war makes you dollar worth less and less every day. You clowns deserve it, I don't.

But, but, we're winning!!!

Here in Wisconsin we are averaging two family farms going out of business every day.

I do not call that winning...

The little 400 to 600 acre dairy farms with a few dozen head of milk cows stopped being viable decades ago. They continued to exist solely because they were paid for and the government massively subsidizing them. Once California opened up their huge commercial dairy farms as large scale corporate agri-business, the last hope of those little Wisconsin farms dating back to being homestead land came to an end. They have more been hobby farms with the farmer and wife having outside jobs for decades. They are not about business, they are about life style - paid for by we-the-people.

The objective of that particular "tariff war" was to eliminate the Chinese steel/aluminum from coming into this country via Canada and Mexico; in other words, Chinese were avoiding US tariffs by sending their metal to Canada and Mexico who in turn shipped it on to the US of A.

"... As part of the agreement, the U.S. will be able to re-impose the tariffs on metals imports if not enough is done to prevent any surge of metals imports beyond historical levels. The nations have also agreed to ramp up efforts to trace where the metals have come from originally, to stop the diversion of shipments from other nations to dodge tariffs.

The enforcement system will aim to advantage primary steel and aluminum producers in the three-nation trading bloc to ensure that the metal is melted, poured or smelted regionally. ..."

Yeah you have no idea what you are talking about, and what is going on in the midwest.

We have plenty of CFOs.

It is the tariffs that are currently destroying our farmers...

Bull**** , they go out of business like all other business totally on the business environment in that area. The idea that farmers have made it of the government is bull****. 9/10 of the number that is listed for farm subsidy is for food support for the poor. Something that the right creates more of every single day they have power all handled to the wealthiest people in this country that own that party. The point is you have no clue what your talking about , you righty's never do. all bull**** or distortions.

I'de rather subsidize those small farmers than giving away billions to the big sugar barons who are polluting Florida's water and ruining the Everglades while pocketing millions a year.

In the United States, fewer than 4,500 farm businesses produce sugar. Yet they cost taxpayers up to $4 billion a year in subsidies.
The U.S. sugar program is a Stalinist-style supply control initiative that limits imports through quotas and domestic production through what are called marketing allotments.
This strategy substantially increases U.S. prices — on average U.S. sugar prices are about twice as high as world prices US:SBV8 — ensuring domestic sugar production is artificially higher, crowding out other productive uses of irrigable farmland.

Please explain how this is going to happen. The trade war will potentially raise costs to the tune of 50 billion in a 20 trillion economy. An economy growing materially faster than Europe as an example. Is the ECB going to raise rates due to the trade war which would impact the value of the dollar. Will China raise the value of their currency when their economy is already challenged by tariffs-probably just the opposite.

Just trying to understand if there is any rationale thinking behind your comments or just more we hate Trump so the sky is falling.

U.S. Steel and Aluminum Tariffs to Lift for Canada, Mexico - Bloomberg
Ya you bet this country lost both ways. Canada drops the tariffs that they put on because of scum bag screwing around with tariffs and Canada gets the tariffs off their steel. You want to explain how this country was anything but a net loser on scum bags wheeling and dealing. We dump the tariffs on Canadians steel and stop protecting our steel industry. This is what the right wing calls a win, This is what I call scum bag doing what he does best, lose in every aspect of his business decisions, Scum bag being the biggest loser of his daddy's money in the history of this country. Worst business man in this country, if profits are any part of how good a business man is. That makes him the worst business man in the history of this country. Love it- This is their God and Leader.

The top ten farms that get the most subsidies are corporations owned by billionaires, many of them are foreign.

But we have to worry about what it costs to have a refugee child go to the ER...

LOL!!

"President Nutso", that "scum bag", that "insane loser"...that "stupid clown"...single handedly stopped both Canada and Mexico...and other countries...from doing what they've been doing for decades: Helping China dump cheap steel and aluminum into the US, thereby destroying our metals industries.

He has stopped both Canada and Mexico from buying cheap parts and materials from other countries for the stuff they assemble and sell to the US, thereby helping those other countries avoid the tariffs they would suffer if they sold those parts and materials directly to American manufacturers.

That is the main result of the USMCA and the steel and aluminum tariffs that Trump enacted.

Now...about Trump coming to an agreement and all three countries lifting their tariffs...you seem to be thinking about this very narrowly. Perhaps your sources didn't tell you what else was involved in that agreement.

Here are the facts:

As part of the agreement, the U.S. will be able to re-impose the tariffs on metals imports if not enough is done to prevent any surge of metals imports beyond historical levels. The nations have also agreed to ramp up efforts to trace where the metals have come from originally, to stop the diversion of shipments from other nations to dodge tariffs.

So, you see...Trump waited until Mexico and Canada agreed to his conditions before he lifted his tariffs. Those conditions will make Mexico and, especially, Canada think twice about trying to game the system like they've done for decades.

btw, this agreement to lift tariffs also removes the major Congressional oppositional talking point against ratifying the USMCA. Congress doesn't have any more excuses not to do that now. In effect, Trump just slapped those anti-Trump Congressmen upside the head.

Your the numbers guy here , so scum bag raised the tariffs on China alone at 150 billion- he just added 100 billion , you have to try to keep up. I say close to 85% of China's sales in this country goes to the part of the population that is the poorest., so just China alone means a increase to every man women and child of $458.71 dollars a year. So that's nothing you say, since most of that will be from the incomes of the poor and lower middle class, proves you are a fraud as far as numbers are concerned. Now remember that just China Numbers . You people have no clue what your talking about ever.

That's the only reason why the right has supported farm subsidy's over the years. They don't care about anyone other then fat white and wealthy. They are a pitiful group of people.

Not sure why you need to infuse insults. Doesn't cover up your ignorance on the issue. The tariffs are 25% of the value on about 200 billion of goods or 50 billion. That assumes that none of that will be recouped by re-negotiated prices or lowering of margins. It also assumes that none of the products being made in China will move final production to other low cost Asian nations like Vietnam or heaven forbid the U.S.

Not sure who you people is supposed to mean. Perhaps folks who have actually negotiated real life major business transactions, rather than kids still on school.

It was about Chinese steel and aluminum, not Canadian made products. I would think some deal with Mexico is next, as they assemble Chinese made auto parts and other things, then stamp it "Hecho en Mexico" to get around tariffs.
See, it's all a stupid game, and unlike clueless Obama and Bush, Trump won't play it.
Ah, but carry on with the Trump hate. It just makes you look stupid.

~ Sadly a certain segment of society ( Democrats/"progressives"/liberals ) do not realize the US is actually in a war of sorts for economic strength and up until Trump came along America has been losing ...!f America becomes the #2 world economy you can kiss good-bye our much beloved independence/wealth/opportunity/influence etc. We will quickly regress to the likes of a lower middle-class Venezuela . `

Heres the thing.....acts like the president is pulling only work if you are actually in a position of power and know what to do with that power.

What we have going on right now is like a bad poker player with the large stack at a table. He is shoving chips around, calling everyone elses bets in the hopes that his stack alone will be enough to scare everyone out of the pot. Only problem is that he doesn't have the cards to back it up, and when the hand comes to the showdown, hes gonna be left with his pants around his ankles and the power he once had gone because he had no idea how to actually play the hand he was dealt.

THAT is what is going to cede the power that we may have had to the rest of the world. He is letting perfect be the enemy of good in this situation.

Lets consider this.....even with the trade imbalance we have going on, we are still the largest economy in the world. Companies are turning record profits year over year. Things were fine for them. That may not be the case for long though.

I doubt there is ever a year where farmers don't have something they bitch about. Too much rain. Not enough rain. Price of seed. Fuel. Damn bureaucrats telling them want they must and must not do...

Small farms were mostly about feeding your own family, with some to sell for basic necessities - a very simple life.

Amish make it work. They accumulate a lot of money farming, enough to buy farms for cash. But using horses and your children - plus some collectivism of labor and resources - is cheaper than a tractor, other equipment, and fuel. Electricity costs money as do farmer's cars and other modern stuff etc.

I presume this thread originated by a non-US citizen, because like it or not Trump IS, like Obama WAS, "OUR" President.

Perhaps we should focus our attention more on what is YOUR and MY Congress member doing to improve the efficiency and lower our costs of governance, for the benefit of future generations!

The administration basically admits that the tariffs are hurting farmers, so they're giving them even more money

Good thing Trump is out to get all those farmers living off of welfare, huh?

But, but, we're winning!!!

Here in Wisconsin we are averaging two family farms going out of business every day.

I do not call that winning...

Smaller facilities are simply not as efficient. This is true in the dairy business and in every other business as well. Mom and Pop operations have fallen victim to bigger operations for centuries.

However, the number of cows being used for the Dairy industry in Wisconsin are actually increased, slightly, since 2014.

The amount of milk produced and the amount of Cheese produced are both up as well.

The sheer of regulation on all businesses (which Trump is working to reduce) is a greater problem for small businesses than for big business. Compliance with regulations is an ongoing expense that can confound a non-lawyer.

As a side note:

Schumer has been in office since 1981.

Pelosi has been in office since 1987.

Trump's been in office since 2017.

How is this TRUMP'S fault?
