For those of us who have noticed, Fox's programmed music that 'fades in and fades out' to a commercial break for many of their shows like Fox & Friends and The Five (and possibly others that I haven't seen), is selectively and intentionally country & western music. Oh yes, Fox knows its audience.
Fox is broadcast from a slick New York studio at Studio J at 1211 Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan. If you've been to Manhattan you're more likely to have heard jazz, rock, the blues, as well as classicalmusic. It is the birthplace of hip hop, Latin freestyle, doo wop, bebop, disco, punk rock, and new wave. But Country & Western - not so much.
What Fox does, and quite cleverly, is play the genre of music that Trump's base connects with. The poetic word of the country song has re-appeared and right in the middle of Manhattan. The music is meant to speak specifically to Trump supporters by saying 'look, we're just like you, we get you'. Through music, Fox Network attempts to replace the glitzy and somewhat harsh demeanor of New Yorker's with the home-spun, warm and fuzzy kind of music that makes supporters of Trump feel welcomed and comfortable. Country music is the 'soul of our country' right? Does it even matter if it's coming out of the most non-rural city on the planet and used as 'not so subtle' propaganda?
Most music conveys a message. For Fox Network, C&W music is a clear winner to project images of farms, hard work and patriotism. So God bless Toby Keith and Tim McGraw for pressing the souls of Fox viewers with the fingerprint of patriotism. That's where patriotism lives isn't it? Let the Charlie Daniels and Waylon Jennings tunes loose and let facts and history be damned.
Can I get a Yee Haw from Fox viewers?
