North Korea presented US with $2 million bill for care of Otto Warmbier - CNNPolitics

The North Korean government presented the United States with a bill for $2 million for the hospital care of Otto Warmbier, the American college student who was held as a prisoner by Pyongyang, and insisted the US sign a pledge to pay the bill before releasing him from their custody...Yun, who had orders from President Donald Trump to bring Warmbier home, signed the bill after informing then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson about it.

 Suckers

"We made clear that they were never going to get anything" when the negotiating occurred for the release of the 3 Americans, the source added.
Earlier this month, at an event attended by Otto Warmbier's family, Pompeo dismissed the idea of the US paying ransom for hostages.
"Please remember that any money to a terrorist or terrorist regime gives money so that they can seize more of our people," he said. "We cannot accept that risk. You wouldn't ask that of us."

Rofl.

CNN fake news. Sucker.

It might help if you read your own story before posting a fake narrative.

Thank you.

Lets see if Trump is really tough. Trump should tell them to shove their bill. Let us see if he does it.

We can't go back on our agreement. Kim got us fair and square.

Suckers are those who believe Trump's denials.

"Pompeo dismissed the idea"

You really should read your own links.

It's not this money. So, you know Trump will gladly pay his boyfriend when using someone else's money, if he hasn't already.

Suckers believe what Trump, Pompeo and anyone else working in the administration says. He paid baby Kimmy.

Where does it say Trump agreed to pay the ransom? In the article it just looks like NK presented the U.S. with a bill for Otto's hospital care. Pompeo said NK will get nothing.

I'm not sure what to make of this. The U.S. did sign and agree to the bill as part of the negotiation. So it seems to me it should be paid, or this may hurt further negotiation credibility.

How much for a live one?

We signed the agreement. Read the op.

You sign; you pay. It can be enforced in court.

Besides, I suspect we already did. But, as is usual with the Trumpians, they are lying their ass off denying it.

Let us see how tough Mr. Tough Guy really is. This is the kind of thing he would verbally crucify somebody at a burning stake if they did and get lots of mileage from his demogaugery .

The same group pf people saying the US should do anything amd everything possible to secure the release of Otto are now upset because the US did anything and everything to secure his release.

I think any president would of agreed to the same conditions or maybe even been taken for a larger amount.

His lemmings will defend him. Sheeple are like that.

You got a link to a confirmed payment? Or maybe a photo of bundled cash on an airport tarmac destined for NK?

Surely somebody from the career government "professionals" would have leaked a source of said payment to Buzzfeed by now.

That's possible. You can't trust the words of this administration for a damn ...

Trump never paid his debts before. Not that I'd want to see him pay off Kim anyway: if he dodged his obligation as he usually does at least this time it's for a good cause.

We bought a dead guy for two million dollars. Not a famous one.

Donald Trump Agreed to Pay North Korea $2 Million for Otto Warmbier Hospital Bills, Report Says

4/25/19
President Donald Trump approved a $2 million payment to cover the medical care of Otto Warmbier, a then-comatose University of Virginia student jailed in North Korea, according to a new report. On Thursday, new information about discussions surrounding Warmbier's return was revealed by The Washington Post's Anna Fifield. Citing two unnamed sources familiar with the matter, Fifield reported that North Korea billed the U.S. $2 million for Warmbier's hospital bill and that Trump himself approved the invoice. While the bill was sent to the Treasury Department, it could not be confirmed whether or not it was actually paid. White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders said, "We do not comment on hostage negotiations, which is why they have been so successful during this administration."

According to the Washington Post, Trump agreed to pay North Korea $2 million for Otto Warmbier's hospitalization. And who can forget this suck-up from Trump regarding Warmbier.....

"Kim tells me he didn't know about it, and I take him at his word. I don't believe he would have allowed that to happen…. It just wasn't to his advantage to allow that to happen."

Geezus. The stupidity and spinelessness of Donald Trump is astounding.

One more North Korea humiliation for President Trump

So? I'm sure this would be far from the first agreement that Donald Trump signed and then refused to hold up his end of the bargain. TBH, I probably would have promised NK whatever they wanted and then reneged immediately once I got what I wanted. No one who takes hostages deserves good faith negotiation for those hostages.

Now if we actually did pay this $2 million dollar bill, then Trump is even more of a fool than I could have imagined.

Would you prefer Otto was left in NK?

We could pay ransoms for everyone. You're just arguing for paying ransoms. You really think that's a solid position?

The only thing worse than paying ransoms is pretending to pay ransoms. And it was for a dead guy.

Yes, I rather a corpse remain in NK than pay two million for it. That's a totally rational position. At two mil per corpse, we'd be bankrupt in a week.

We were sold a corpse. We look like idiots. Yes, I'd rather it didn't happen.

I'm of the opinion we shouldn't pay the bill. Or at the very least wait until the Wombier family settles its lawsuit against NK and make them foot the bill.
