Every AmeriCAN deserves special treatment. Democrats are just now starting to understand that they MUST stand up to the divisive identity propaganda and politics of Faux, Lush and Bull****Bart that has for years pitted AmeriCAN against AmeriCAN! The right stays in business KEEPING people at each others throats because if they didn't we'd all get together and NEVER vote for them again.

Can you elaborate?

My point was that Trump is a morally reprehensible man who mocks disabled people among other things. It's hard to have a common bond of goodwill with such a leader at the helm.

It's kind of like a supporter of the late segregationist Geoge Wallace wondering why we all can't come together as Americans. The obvious answer is that by supporting George Wallace you're supporting someone who literally advocates dividing us. Trump is the same. He advocated a Muslim ban. He advocated a deportation force that was supposed to deport 11 million people. He calls people rapists and murderers but SOME are good people.

You can't claim you want to bring the country together and yet support a scumbag like Trump.

What didn't make sense about any of that post? It consisted of two sentences, and the grammar and syntax were fine in both of them, so what's the problem?

A well known conservative here on DP, who goes by "Perotista", made a thoughtful post on the subject of impeachment and I thought he made some excellent points.

I manage to get along not only with people like Perotista, but even with a few Trump supporter conservatives as well. The reason I detest Trump has nothing to do with me being on the Left at all.
That's probably difficult for you to believe, but I don't care if it is because over the last two years I know I've made rational points about the why's and wherefore's concerning my dislike for Trump, and I've also laid out maybe a dozen hypothetical scenarios where a Republican wins in 2016 and it's NOT Trump, and what my reaction would have been.

No, of course I wouldn't be overjoyed but, as in the past, I would view it as "a survivable event" and I would look forward to trying my best to see if there were any bright spots where they were "presidential".

Bait thread is exceedingly bait-y. I could sit down to dinner with Trump supporters and elicit the same reactions as the waitress.

I doubt that. The right didn't start this fight. All they did was their candidate won an election. Now, 2 years later, restaurants are throwing cabinet heads out. Hats are being forcibly removed. There's absolutely no sign of the left ever letting the duly elected president do his job.

What's interesting is that what you write is exactly what someone on the right could say about the New Democratic Party, and it's supporters.


How do NDP members square the stalking of Republicans in public spaces? Chasing people out of restaurants, pounding on the front doors of their private homes.

I haven't seen this encouraged and endorsed by any Republican leadership, but everyone has seen it from NDP leadership.

We are a divided nation.


We should stop being so gullible to the manipulations of the politicians who are trying to screw us.
