New congressional resolution introduced to remove Lee statue from Antietam

Im all for it. Remove statues dedicated to glorifying traitors.

Especially statues of Obama.

I know right? Trump had Obama sussed out the second Trump saw that black skin.

You might not know it, but Trump started a whole racist movement, the Birther Movement, attacking Obama for almost a decade, all because Obama's skin was dark. Said he was Unamerican. And believe it or not, millions and millions of Americans supported this racist attack on the POTUS. Makes me so happy I don't live in The States. :)

Glorifying a loser who invaded our country is kinda not a good idea anyway.

Antietam is an actual battlefield where General Lee was in command.

Well, way to not address what I said. Antietam was an actual battlefield where Lee's invading army was defeated by one of the worst generals in the war.

That's irrelevant to the fact that General Lee commanded The Army of Northern Virginia at the battle.

But it is relevant to whether there should be a statue of him there. Do try and keep up.

This is the erasure of history. It's Taliban'esque.

No it is not. There is tons of history that is remembered without statues. Maybe you have heard of those things we call books. Stupid hysterics are stupid.

Exactly. Glorifying traitors to King and Country, like George Washington and the 52 who signed the declaration of independence, is unacceptable.

In the battlefield parks, history is documented through markers and statues on the battlefield. It's literally, an outdoor museum.

Next, you'll want to have all the photographs of Confederate generals removed from the vistor's centers at the NBP's.

We also need to change the name of Washington and Lee university, Ft. Lee, 8 counties, 46 schools and who knows how many roads.

Amazing how ignorant some are when it comes to history. Meh....

Statues are not the only was to document history.

No. Why are you wrong so often?

I do not know who has the final word on this matter, but I hope that General Lee's statute will be permitted to remain on that battlefield.

We must never forget the horrific suffering sustained by both sides.

General Lee was a soldier and a gentleman.

Did you know that people are capable of remembering things without statues? Its true, its true!

Calling Lee a gentleman is laughable. In his invasions of US territory, he allowed his men to kidnap and sell US citizens for profit. Hardly the actions of a "gentleman".

Thank you for your opinion.

I prefer to believe those books that describe the general as a true Southern gentleman.

I wish that our country had more men like him today instead of the many uncultured individuals that we meet at school, at work, and in public.
