The thread title says it all.

His strategy to spin first and release later left many questions unanswered and raised the specter of a cover-up.

Bloomberg - Barr Embarrasses Himself and the Justice Department

Obviously.

Attorney General William Barr’s cheerleading for President Donald Trump on Thursday morning was entirely inappropriate, and forces the question of whether a cover-up is underway.

Barr claimed, in his brief back and forth with journalists, that he was only there to answer questions about the process of producing the report of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, not its substance. But, in fact, his statement was mostly about the substance, as he chose to spin it. First, he said the report concluded there was “no collusion,” without explaining anything about the many contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian actors.

No collusion--never mind all those contacts that look exactly like...you know, collusion. :2rofll:

Barr’s statements on obstruction were astonishing, especially given that the first headlines when the report was released indicated that Mueller seemed to take the evidence of obstruction quite seriously. Essentially, Barr asserted that the president’s behavior was OK simply because Trump was frustrated at being attacked. Barr said “it is important to bear in mind the context” of Trump being investigated and the “relentless speculation” in the media despite what the attorney general characterized as Trump’s innocence. But even assuming that Trump had done absolutely nothing wrong, that hardly excuses interference with legitimate FBI investigations.

lol...it's not obstruction because the president's feelings were hurt and he believed he was innocent.

Are these people serious?

Do his people actually believe this nonsense?

Come on, guys. You can admit that you don't believe this Barr**** at all, and that you are only spinning for partisan purposes.

Well, at least we learned a new term for bull****: Barr****.

I've long said I would accept Mueller's findings given that there was no malfeasance from Trump. It looks like there is clear malfeasance in the form of Obstruction of Justice attempts on Trump's part. But, what even more damaging to Trump is the corrupt firings at the Justice Department to interfere with the Mueller probe, of which the Sessions firing and Whitaker/Barr stooge installment is included.

Yes, because you actually do believe the Barr****. We know.

I actually read the Executive Summary of Volume I..BY MUELLER..which you are clearly TOO TERRIFIED TO DO.

BARR QUOTED MUELLER EXACTLY ON COLLUSION.,,WORD FOR WORD.

You're peddling Barr****. So, guess who doesn't believe you?

I’ll accept the Mueller report. What I won’t accept is a spoon fed 4 page summary regardless of who wrote it.

With a 400 page report the devil is very much in the details. A 4 page summary is next to useless.

READ PAGE FOUR of the ACTUAL REPORT....the Executive Summary.

I’ve read and written plenty of executive summaries. They gloss over lots of detail. I’ll make my final conclusions after reading the whole thing.

So MUELLER DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE **** HE WAS WRITING, in HIS OWN REPORT?

Got it.

Ever hear the old saying “the devil is in the details?”

Simple one. Mueller declined to make a prosecution decision on obstruction. Why? Is because he believed there was no obstruction? Believed there was but couldn’t prove it? Thought he could prove it but decided that since the justice department won’t allow him to indict that it didn’t matter.

Things like that are actually important. Anyone who just looks at the summary and says that’s it is either very incurious and has made up their mind.

the mueller report itself states that no evidence was found of collusion.

Not quite. It shows a boatload of collusion. What Mueller said is that he did not have the authority to indict a sitting president; only Congress can legally settle this matter. He also said that, even though Trump Junior broke many laws, he was too stupid to know he broke those laws.

Them's the facts.

No.What we saw was the president exercising his legitimate authority.
And acting like a man wrongly accused.

Legitimate authority to obstruct justice?
