Trump political instincts are impressive.. More so than I thought

I think, anyone that at least follows politics and appreciates the history and theory can admit that Trump is either really freaking lucky, or he is a mastermind politician. I'm of the opinion that he gets it right way more than he gets it wrong, so I'm going with the latter. That said, I think I now exactly what he's going to do this election cycle. I think he's going to ignore (mostly) whoever the dimwits nominate and go right after the low hanging fruit (Gifts that keep on giving) in AOC, Omar, and Ihan.. He's going to attack the dimwits where their hypocrisy, and stupidity is self evident to all but the most TDS among them..

Why not? The dimwits have shown that substance isn't on their radar, it's going to be all about Trump. Policy positions, and the details will be lacking, and I think Trump knows this. It plays exactly into his hands, and no one is better at it than he..

This is going to be the most fun any election I have ever seen.

No, Actually what Trump has proven is his cult followers will excuse ANY action he does. He has made a point though and that is that Trump is not the problem, he is a symptom. His cult followers are the REAL problem and they allow him to do ANYTHING he wants without holding him accountable.

Trump doesn't want it to be about details. He won last time on vague promises.

He'd do better to make it about his opponent than other figures. He might have to give up on the Hillary bogeyman.

And we have the anti-Trumpers who make up all the **** they can to smear Trump with. Didn't work for 16 people in the Republican primary. didn't work with Hillary either. But, when something doesn't work the left loves to double down on a losing hand.

I tend to agree with your assessment, though I would add this:

Those Dem dimwits who have thrown their hats in the ring have absolutely no chance of getting their Party's nomination. The DNC/Pelosi will announce their candidate in a few months through their propaganda arm...the media. Trump knows this, so he knows it's a waste of time paying attention to the dimwits.

He WILL, however, take advantage of every opportunity to capitalize on the stupid things they say and do. He will portray this stupidity as being what the DNC is all about. But he'll be careful to not denigrate the rank and file Dems.

agreed, that is my point. He stumbles on details.. he is much better at throwing shade, and would prefer this kind of campaign. Something the dimwits should fear as he's demonstrated numerous times that he "gets them" and how they operate.

We should just let them use Brown Woman #1 and Brown Woman #2. If they get confused with all those names, it's kinda our fault for not supporting simple honest expression.
 
His political instincts were good at getting elected. He went after Jeb on Iraq - "your brother" - and knocked him out with what people thought was refreshing talk outside the box.

But his instincts at staying elected are disastrous. Once you are in you have to broaden your base, not pander to the same people who won you the primary. That's what he is doing by focusing on the non-existent immigration crisis and Muslim bashing. Pandering to the mouth-breathers who people his rallies, crowds of uneducated, obese white people.

The only reason Trump was elected was Hillary was so bad. It was the Bernie bros she cheated who put him over the top. They voted for him but didn't tell anybody, and still won't.

Well, off the top of my head:

- Family separation
- The deregulation of the mining industry - allowing companies to legally pollute our waterways.
- Eliminating the law that financial service providers have to work in the best interest of their clients opening up the real possibility of another financial collapse.

Again, these are just off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more. If the fact that trump being an insecure, raving lunatic doesn't bother you says more about you than trump, actually.

To get where Trump has gotten, you not only have to be an astute businessman, you must understand people. Now President Trump is very good at people.

In my working life I often worked as an expert witness. I was nowhere as good as Trump, but it was fun to watch lawyers and other witnesses literally implode over a few well chosen words. I see the same tactics used by Trump.

Lower taxes and more government spending (leading to an increase in the annual deficit and national debt) come to mind. Of course, he promised to do just that during his 2016 campaign which is why I did not vote for him.
