Criticizing Bigotry is not an Attack on Faith

I think it's an attack on his "Christian faith" to work for and defend such a morally bankrupt person.

The Bible is clear that you shouldn't associate with someone like Pete who claims to be Christian and yet is openly sexually immoral by its standard. The problem is Christianity and the Bible, bigotry is merely the programming of traditional society. If Christians want to try and overcome that, it is an uphill battle, the text clearly sides with the bigots.
 
Religion is a great tool for deflecting any criticism of the bigoted views some Christians have. I think it's true that Buttigieg is attacking Pence's idea of Christianity, but it is also true that Pence's idea of Christianity is bigoted.

The word bigotry is over used and misused often. Are people who oppose legalizing polygamy "bigots?" Yes. Does that mean they are evil? No.

The "text" also tells people to kill disobedient women and children. It also mentions slaughtering entire villages and wiping entire groups of people from the face of the earth. You good with that too?

You clowns have to call everyone "bigot" , "racist", "white nationalist", etc. because you can't win on the facts or the issues. Buttigieg is going after Pence to put himself in the news and get on the good side of the party fringe now running things. Pence never said a word about Buttigieg.

Christianity says to hate the sin and love the sinner. Hating the sin is not bigoted. People actively living the homosexual lifestyle are sinning according to scripture. Christians cannot celebrate sin and so Pence does not do so. If that is bigotry to the left, then so be it.

You have him all wrong (no surprise there). His growing popularity isn't about his sexual orientation. You may not believe this, but most Americans don't give a **** about that. You righties are once again in the minority there.

What most like is what he says he plans to do if elected. Plus, Rhodes Scholar = smart, Afghan veteran = brave, open about himself = genuine. Those are three things our current president does not have.

That is why religion is such a perfect shield against criticism. If you hate the sin of homosexuality, and then fight against gay marriage, the effect is that people are treated unequally in our society. The politicians that support the ban can say it was about the sin and that allows them to avoid being labeled as bigots. I'm sure that during the colonial period, when people were sometimes jailed for not being Christian, it was all about hating the sin and not the sinner as well.
