How important is it that the GOP wins the next election?

Acting. It should be the official word of the trump administration. The president likes acting, it gives him more flexibility and the opportunity to tell congress to kiss his butt since acting doesn't have to be confirmed. Beside that acting is one of trump's more useful talents.

If trump does not win next election I expect all hell to break loose from the right.

New attorney general and all new heads of the departments that our president has installed his flunkies. My guess is he will immediately be hit by ny state charges as soon as he leaves office and there will be nobody left in positions of power to defend him except the rights supreme court. He's screwed if he loses and the right will go insane claiming...well we all know the crap they will claim.

Expect the very worst from the GOP as the elections draw nearer. Their enemies list should be extensive since the libs are trying to destroy america in their twisted opinion.

All hell has broken loose from the left with Trump's win as they have been trying to destroy him since the day after the election. I would expect nothing less to happen when a Democrat wins in 2020 from the right. The precedence has been set much like Reid set the precedence for the use of the nuclear option. Once the toothpaste is out of the tube, there is no putting it back. It's utterly foolish to think once the other party comes into power they wouldn't utilize the nuclear option and it is utterly insane to think the other party won't set about destroying the winner in the next presidential election. Once a precedence has been set, it is there for everyone to use.

We had a taste of this during Obama when the GOP didn't set out to destroy him, but set out to stop his every move and to make him a one term president.

I don't that would have been the case if the GOP had nominated somebody other than Trump. DonDon has brought out the worst of everybody for better or worse.

A better question is this: How important is it to Congressional donors that Trump does NOT win the next election?

Answer: Trillions of dollars worth of importance.

The precedent was set back in the 90's when Gingrich and the GOP went after Clinton from the start. I don't know why you're trying to rewrite history now. We've been doing it this way for decades.

Another priceless comment, we on the right didn't want to destroy Obama we just wanted to make him a one term president. Isn't that a nice was of saying destroy your enemy? The GOP is dying off and hopefully after the next two presidential election cycles they will learn extremism gets them nowhere.

You are absolutely correct. Newt is the true father of this entire mess. We all saw the weaknesses in the system the Founders set up. We have all known it for 200+ years. It took a real dickhead like Newt to take us down this path. Anybody down through the ages could have attempted to disassemble deliberation and bipartisanship the way Newt did. Like I said...it took a real dickhead to actually do it. His own party eventually ran him off as he proved not to be a messiah but just another charlatan. Unfortunately the die was cast and here we are.

Newt could thank his lucky stars that there was not an LBJ on the Hill when he pulled his nonsense. I do not think it out of the realm of possibility that Newt would have found himself fitted up for the Texas version of cement overshoes if LBJ had been around at the time.
 
The difference is the GOP won't try to destroy every tradition and value-system the United States has, nor try to eliminate the United States as an independent country.

Gee so I guess your opinion is there actually is no difference. Now if the case you are making is that we can build a wall and simply sit on our side of it and be just fine...you are living a fantasy. All you do then is let your adversaries come right up to your wall and that is tactically and strategically a bad situation to put yourself in...especially in a world of access from cyber or space.

Trump already has them regurgitating his false narrative about the whole investigation being part of a coup. Many are already threatening violence.

Expect a lot of fake news in the coming months about rigged elections. He's already started them on that false narrative.

The reason the GOP didn't set out to destroy Obama is because, bottom line, Obama was never a crook like Trump has been most of his life.

Are you kidding? The donor class is very happy with Trump. That tax bill of his has DOUBLED the number of big corporations that paid no taxes last year. Always follow the money.

Ask the Chamber of Commerce what they think about the tax cuts. Ask them what they think about the USMCA. Ask them what they think about tariffs. Ask them how much money they've given to Congressmen.

That will give you an idea what the corporate donors think about Trump.
