Coal Hack vs Normal Person

"Forget about 800,000 years ago, I want to talk about 200,000,000 years ago."

God this person is a ****ing moron.

Kentucky is retarded.

I only listened to a little bit of that but is the guy suggesting that a Political Science degree is "pseudo-science"? I mean...well...I don't know what I mean. That's just plain dumb.

I mean this is a particularly stunning example of how a pretty smart guy, Massie, can be as ignorant as a tree stump.

I can however say I have some experience with this sort of thing. My sort of Exec usually came out of a Liberal Arts or Arts and Sciences or Business higher education experience. I was in my career entirely in a heavy heavy technical field surrounded by MIT EE grads carrying PHD's and MA's including the CEO sitting one office down from mine and the rest of Exec Management.

What they knew about their specific fields was stunning for both its depth and breadth. What they know outside of that....not so much. One interesting thing about the difference. If one had a strong enough Liberal Arts background you could get yourself to what you needed to understand about what was a highly technical field as long as you did not kid yourself into thinking you knew what you did not know. That was always the best way to lose the Technologists respect. But on the flip side, you got the definite impression that if you moved the dinner plate 5 inches on some of these guys, they would have starved!

I hear ya. I'm an ME managing a slew of EE's. I know enough about the controls programming and circuitry to be dangerous. So, I limit my meddling to understanding the issues and then communicating those to upper management and customers. I know enough not to dig too deep into the code, but I can have an intelligent conversation about the flaws in someone's program with the controls manager.

Typically, guys in my position are Mechanical or Industrial engineering types. EE's don't do general management very well. Their communication skills suck, and they are terrible at estimating time and money.

I saw a clip at the end of Chris Hayes' show. Did you hear this guy babbling about Kerry's "science" degree from Yale? That was just plain weird.

That said, I still can not stand John Kerry.

His droning tone is so bad, he probably couldn't even sell ketchup to someone with a bag of stale fries.
