ISIS-inspired terrorist busted for ‘catastrophic’ truck attack plot
Police arrested an ISIS-inspired terrorist in Maryland who had stolen a U-Haul truck that he was going to use to mow down pedestrians in a tourist area outside Washington, DC, prosecutors said in court papers Monday.
Rondell Henry, 28, of Germantown, Md., was busted on March 28 at the National Harbor, where he had gone to carry out an attack on pedestrians — but delayed his plan and parked his vehicle when he failed to find a large crowd to target, according to court papers that were first revealed Monday.
He had hoped to wait and later carry out a truck attack similar to the ones in Nice, France, in 2016 and Lower Manhattan in 2017, prosecutors said.“I was just going to keep driving and driving and driving. I wasn’t going to stop,” Henry told police who questioned him after his arrest, prosecutors said.
