Well, first of all your mistake is thinking the GOP is necessarily conservative. Your second mistake is thinking the Elites of the GOP and the rank and file of the GOP believe the same thing. Based on those mistakes, I suspect you...like a lot of other people...believe what politicians "tell you", as opposed to "what they do".

Given those mistakes...and your revelation that you get "facts" from some god...it's not surprising that you are confused.

But believe me...you have NOT figured anything out.

How about banning bump stocks.. making people turn in their prior legal property or destroy it without compensation.. limited government

How about declaring a national emergency that doesn't exist in order to get around the constraints on the executive branch place on it by the constitution?

Nobody's 100%. That being said, is the deficit and the bumpstock ban all you have?

As far as declaring an emergency to build the wall, it's legal and I'm all for it. Securing the border is the government's job.

I don't believe for a New York minute that you embraced the party of Lincoln or Reagan. But as for conservatives the basic values then and now are pretty much the same:

1. The federal government should stay out of those things for which it has no constitutional authority

2. Federal judges at all levels should understand that the Constitution gives the central government its authority, and where the law is silent so should the courts be silent.'

3. The more the government does for the people, the less they are likely to do for themselves and they will become poorer. The less the government does for the people the more they are likely to do for themselves and they will prosper. The government should promote the general welfare, i.e. establish policy that encourages maximum liberty and prosperity and not get in the way of people doing for themselves, and the government should be otherwise concerned with the truly helpless among us.

4. The government should never interfere with or allow interference with the right of the people to form themselves into whatever societies they wish to be.
