Are we repeating the past when we turn asylum seekers away?

Are you ok with these people being called animals?? I suppose you are.
GOP now wants 2 years to reunite parents and their children.
GOP has lost any empathy for anyone else it ever had.

What is your stance on illegal immigration. Not sure what problems you have with our legal immigration.

Maybe you should read/watch something other than Fox. When the GOP starts calling these people animals?? Just what happened to the Jews in Nazi Germany. Didn't happen overnight. Do a little research. I know actual learning is difficult.

This was directed at the problem you have with asylum.
 
So how many are we supposed to take? It's a question somebody needs to have a answer for. At some point the massive illegal immigration has to stop.

Not sure where you found anything I have ever posted to suggest I am OK with these people being called animals. Might make an exception for members of MS-13 as would most thinking,breathing humans.

I am not a member of the GOP. It is a very recent position for Democrats to be for open borders. Not sure Obama evolved enough to call for that when he was president.

For once, an excellent question, and I am sure that, without politicizing it, actual numbers may be arrived at by querying Border Patrol, ICE and the appropriate courts.

You are absolutely correct in that we are under no obligation to nor could we accept all of them.
It is both right and proper to set quotas.

And maybe, if we are lucky, liberals and conservatives in Congress can hammer out a figure.
Liberals who say we have to take all of them are unreasonable, cons who say we can't take any ("America's full") are unreasonable, too.

We have to make and set a quota, something our border and immigration infrastructure can deal with and something our courts can process. And last but not least, it is not unfair to demand that new arrivals have at least SOMETHING to offer, including at least a basic grasp of English, even if it's just enough to get by.
Sorry liberal friends, English IS important.

Most Democrats DON'T ask for "open borders".
You folks can keep repeating it till you're green in the face, and we'll just keep calling you liars, because it is a lie.

And most Democrats are also in favor of deporting and/or incarcerating illegals who have gang affiliations, too.

And your last sentence is hilarious as every normal person should want illegal alien gang members deported ... but according to you only "most" democrats favor (grin) that idea.

Democrats don't want open borders, and they're not inviting gang members to stay either.

I only used the word "most" because, just as it is possible to find a Republican who openly endorses actual Nazi beliefs, it might also be possible to find one Democrat who was on record as having equally despicable ideas on immigration, something that certain IDIOTS will capitalize on forever. Not saying anyone in particular, just certain idiots.

I could say that "Republicans ARE NAZIS, it's a lie saying otherwise" but then I'd be stooping to the level of an idiot.

These caravans are not asylum seekers. They stop being asylum seekers the moment they come to a place that will accept them and offer them a safe haven and Mexico has done that. The people in the caravans insist on coming to America not for asylum but for better economic opportunity. That makes them immigrants, and since they are attempting to circumvent our laws, illegal immigrants.

The US takes in a million LEGAL immigrants a year. We have a robust immigration program.
