If the election was held today, he'd be toast. Nobody knows what's going to happen in between today and election day 2020. I don't think the next two years are going to swing many new votes in his direction, and he may lose a good portion of his base, those that are registered Independents.

When it comes right down to it, the Dem Elites won't let those socialists get past the primary. Their big money donors won't let them.

There will be a choice between Trump and whomever the Dem Elites present as their chosen one...and the chosen one will be one of them.
 
Chavez could have called himself a capitalist and done the same stuff. He sold his country into the gutter giving cronies everything and selling domestically produced gas domestically at $0.02/gallon.

He was a typical strongman cult of personality sell everyone out quasi dictator. Socialism didn't really have anything to do with him as a disaster.

2020 is about voting for tweety cult or voting against it. i hope that the Democrats don't screw up again and nominate someone who is difficult to elect.
