Trump: Kill Obamacare

Trump administration says it will ask a court to throw out entire health law

President Trump's Justice Department supports a federal judge's ruling that President Obama's signature health care law, the Affordable Care Act, is unconstitutional, a court filing shows.

Yet another Trump lie.....

In the month leading up to the 2018 midterm elections, GOP candidates up for reelection promised that they would defend the pre-existing conditions clause in the ACA (Obamacare).

You all remember that hypocrisy. While they were busy swearing and promising, GOP Attorney's General were suing Obamacare in Texas. The GOP AG's won their suit before a conservative court.

Now the Trump administration is petitioning an Appeals Court to declare the entire ACA/Obamacare unconstitutional.

This is your Republicans, trying another avenue to **** everyone out of their healthcare insurance. After all, they have the large healthcare provider donors to take care of.

US District Court Judge : "I just did."

Do you seriously think the Congressional Republicans agree with Trump on Obamacare? I don't.

So trying to put this on "Republicans" seems a bit broad brush dishonest, to me.

This IS on the Republicans. What other party brags about their distaste for public health and their love of for-profit exploitation of the sick?

What the GOP needs is a big mirror so they're not constantly surprised when they get called monsters. The first step in becoming better humans is understanding how bad you really are.

They wouldn't bat an eyelash. In fact, I'd guarantee that if he did it, he'd get his base and his approval would skyrocket. He would win 2020 in a landslide.
Well if so, he might have just won the election. As much as many on the Left hate him, for the big plum of a true universal healthcare system, like Medicare/Medicaid for all, some might acquiesce.

Of course it's all bull**** though, and will never get done.

Wouldn't that be legislating from the bench? I thought conservatives were against it. It was already declared Constitutional.
t?

It was but that changed.

"In a ruling last December, U.S. District Court Judge Reed O’Connor in the Northern District of Texas agreed with the GOP-led states argument that the health law was unconstitutional. The judge ruled that the constitutional foundation for the law – the requirement that people buy insurance or pay a penalty – was no longer constitutional because Congress had repealed the penalty. O'Connor ruled that because that provision was so central to the health law, the whole thing had to be invalidated."

If I were Democrat ,I'b cheering that it gets declared unconstitutional, because that would make single payer much more a winning issue for them.

And yet, the Congressional Republicans torpedoed Trump's efforts to end Obamacare.

You really do have to pretend not to know things, don't you?

He'll say it isn't socialism.

So Trump is going to embrace/push a 'socialist' (Trumps own description) position of Sanders and AOC?

Well now, I'd be impressed.

What was Trump's proposal on healthcare again? Can you link to it? I never saw anything that couldn't fit on a napkin myself. Kill Obamacare then replace it with the best ever healthcare plan ever devised, that covered everyone with lower premiums. That's about it I think.

Nah...I don't have a link handy. I'm sure you can find it if you look around.

This is why I am glad we moved back to California. In a few short months, it is likely that the Affordable Care Act, through which my son gets his ONLY available health coverage, will no longer exist, and he will most likely wind up dependent entirely on Medicaid, which in this state is called Medi-Cal.

Not because of money, but because NO INSURANCE company will cover his heart conditions if the ACA goes away.
He will go back to being "uninsurable" for his condition, except MAYBE through Medicaid.
President Donald Trump is actively trying to kill my children.

That is pathetic. Are you trying to imply that Republicans will override him?
"Yeah, I can see Mitch McConnell working feverishly to do that right now" - - SAID NO ONE EVER.

What if Trump is playing 11th dimension chess?

Courts kill O'Care, Trump then swoops in to demand Universal Healthcare, takes away campaign platform for almost every Dem in 2020?

Oh sure...:lamo

He'll say it isn't socialism.

It's brilliant, because time and time again, we've seen that Trump can literally get away with anything. His base will love him regardless, and because of that, Republicans will have to give in to him. Democrats can't fight him either because it's been one of their goals for decades.

You're saying he'll pull a Richard Nixon move?
If he actually did that I would applaud him for it but I seriously doubt it.

Great work Trump.

Now................... get to work on a decent plan that will replace the " unconstitutional garbage ACA"

I'm confident our President will finally get rid of obamascare for good.

McCain saved Trump by voting down ObamaCare repeal. It would have been a disaster for Republicans because they don't have an alternative. They would never have found an alternative because they are shacked by their small government ideology.

Override? No. Oppose? Yes...as they already have.

That's what I wondered when I read this story. He claimed that nobody knew more about healthcare than Donald Trump. He said he was going to make it accessible and affordable for everyone. Where is that plan? I've been waiting to see it since he promised all of this.

If he does this, he has ensured that he will lose re-election (and take the entire GOP down with him). People in this country are concerned about healthcare. They want the plan he and the GOP have promised (the ACA lite plan that was shot down wasn't a plan). Healthcare is far more important to most Americans than going after Hillary Clinton or where the Israeli embassy needs to be.

This man is an idiot.

He’s a snake oil salesmen which has been proven with his Trump University.

It's not legislating from the bench when the result is something a conservative likes.
I think your problem is that you don't know what "legislate" means.

He’s a snake oil salesmen which has been proven with his Trump University.

You can only be a snake oil salesman if your target customer is ignorant. And Trump supporters are showing every day that they are just that.

Why is it? What exactly are they legislating?

Congress made clear its intent that the rest of the ACA stand without an individual mandate in 2017. A judge substituting his judgment for Congress's and declaring that the rest of the law can't stand if he throws out the functionally nonexistent mandate is the definition of legislating from the bench.
