I think you're mostly right. Except, I think Trump was more threatened by the suggestion that his win wasn't legitimate -- the suggestion that he couldn't have won without the Russian interference. So he directed his paranoiac ramblings to that point. And because he kept using the word "collusion," people reporting on the story got hung up on that word.



Also, it is worth noting that Trump lied about his business dealings with Russia, well into his campaign for president. That's not necessarily more than tangentially related to your post. But it needs to be added at some point and I don't want to wait the 30 seconds required to make a new post. :)
