The people running Russia aren't ignorant. They know if they started a war with the EU or the U.S they would get their asses kicked badly. A few years ago Russia's GDP was lower than the GDP of the city of Tokyo. Some of you may recall the news of Russia's one aircraft carrier being damaged and Russia being unable to repair it. Russia is not going to **** with us or our allies because the people in power want to stay in power. And before anybody starts crying about Crimea, let me just say it's easy to conquer people that want to be conquered. The Ukrainian central government wasn't happy, but the people that actually live in Crimea were and still are happy about it. I won't say Putin was completely justified, but honestly it really doesn't bother me.

I think Trump's coziness with Putin will do little more than ease bad blood between our governments. He's doing the same thing with North Korea. The left hisses and writhes at Trump for being cool with Putin and Kim. Apparently they completely lack pragmatism, probably due to their stupidity. Trump will be gone eventually, but his impact on our relationship with unfriendly governments can be long-lasting. You partisan fools that have **** on Trump's efforts with North Korea every step of the way should ask yourselves why you want the president to fail in securing peace with a hostile nation.

So this thread isn't about Russia at all, it is about how great dear leader god emperor Trump is, and in the same breathe you preemptively accuse anyone of remotely criticizing Trump's abysmal foreign policy of being partisan. Lolwut...

You sure? I think it's possible to make more than one point in a single thread.

it is about how great dear leader god emperor Trump is

I didn't even vote for Trump; I voted for Bernie. I just don't automatically hate everything he does because I'm not an idiot.

There's nothing mild about the criticism of Trump's efforts. He is outright attacked because the left wants him to fail. I bet you'd actually be upset if he successfully brokered peace with NK.

Yes, and it is also possible to create a thread with the express purpose of pushing an agenda or ulterior motive with an intentionally-misleading thread title. :)

...Dilligaf?

I just don't automatically hate everything he does because I'm not an idiot.

Criticizing the many many many times Trump has done something utterly ****ing stupid =/= 'automatically hating everything he does'.

Ah yes, the monolithic hivemind known as "the left," ...you sure you didn't vote for Trump?

I bet you'd actually be upset if he successfully brokered peace with NK.

Nope, because it will never happen.

So do you want to have an actual conversation about anything I said or not really?

Could you name some things Trump has done or said that you approve of? Perhaps I was wrong. You see it's hard to not think that when you're even critical of him trying to secure peace with other nations.

Ah yes, the monolithic hivemind known as "the left," ...you sure you didn't vote for Trump?

Yep.

Nope, because it will never happen.

Fingers crossed?

How many people do you think believe that Russia would start an actual shooting war with the U.S.?

Plenty of people seem to think Russia is a military threat to western Europe. If our allies in the EU were invaded it would provoke a shooting war between Russia and the U.S. I think a lot of people lack an understanding of how much Russia isn't really a military threat these days. I don't think they pose any kind of real threat to our way of life. When there are 50 different places you can go to get a Big Mac in Moscow I think it's safe to say we won the culture war.

I'll take this to mean you're not interested in discussing the contents of the OP.

I think you're just mad that your attempts to paint me as a partisan and that my criticisms of Trump are subjective and that my dislike of him revolves around partisan reasons like "the Left" fell flat on their face. Your entire OP revolves around defending Trump cozying up to and lauding dictators.

I lean libertarian.

**** dictators.

**** them to literal death.

If you're not a partisan dolt then good for you. There certainly is no shortage of them however. Let me know if you decide you want to have a conversation about the points I made in the OP.

Russia is gaining influence in the middle east and in Asia, they are gaining influence in China. Trump has given that to them. Trump has done nothing in North Korea but give Kim Jong what he wanted, recognition and praise. That's it. You are being the partisan fool by positng such lies.

Russia meddle in Brexit which is harming England and the EU, manipulated our elections to put in Trump, and his country is gaining the benefits.

The right is so incredibly dumb and dishonest, its astounding

In hindsight, as is typical on these forums, the OP is not interested in actually post

Just being partisan and projecting that it is the other side being partisan. Can't even back up their dumb OP, its been nothing but typical trolling tactics of deflection and dumb one liners

Same as always

With all respect, you are only looking one type of threat.

Russia's goal has been to divide NATO and collapse the USA from within. With Trump installed they are making tremendous strides.

A hot civil war will be no walk in the park.

All nations attempt to gain influence. What do you think they want to do with that influence? Do you really think they pose some kind of threat?

Trump is the first president that has even been willing to meet Kim. Did you think this would all be sorted out in a week? I really don't think Kim is just ****ing with us. Maybe the logistics and optics of it all is a little more complicated than you realize. ;) It would be a lie to say Donald Trump has not made unprecedented progress with North Korea.

Russia meddle in Brexit which is harming England and the EU, manipulated our elections to put in Trump, and his country is gaining the benefits.

Do you think Trump would have lost if not for the Russians? Is it possible you're overestimating their impact?

Could they actually do all that even if they really wanted to?

Seriously, you don't think they have been VERY successful so far?

We are already in a cold civil war.

Trump will try to turn it hot if we follow the rule of law and it takes him down.

I think you need to take a deep breath. The United States is not going to collapse/descend into civil war, and if it does it won't be because of the Russians. You're out of your mind if you think it's reasonable to blame Russia for partisan hostility in this country.

Putin likely put TRump over the top in the election with his misinformation and propaganda war so I don't know how you can't given Putin credit. There is a reason the Kremlin went into party mode when Trump was elected.

I very much doubt it. The Democrats, like children, refuse to take responsibility for their failures. Hillary Clinton was a terrible choice, and that is why Trump won.

There is a reason the Kremlin went into party mode when Trump was elected.

Probably because Trump is chill with Putin and they see that as something that could be beneficial. I see it that way too.
