Among other states, I am sure.

Supreme Court Justices Seem Incredulous At Repeated Racial Bias In Jury Selection

During that time, the state Supreme Court three times threw out his murder conviction for prosecutorial misconduct.

The misconduct was not some technicality. It ranged from misleading the jury about evidence that did not exist to striking prospective jurors based on race.

In the fourth and fifth trials, Evans ran out of strikes; at least two black jurors were seated; and the juries deadlocked. But in the sixth trial, with one black juror, the jury convicted, and the Mississippi Supreme Court upheld the conviction, ruling that this time, there had not been any racial discrimination in jury selection.

In arguments on Wednesday, most of the U.S. Supreme Court members did not seem inclined to uphold that conclusion.

White privilege--not to be tried 6 times for a murder you probably did not commit.

It appears the Supreme Court will step in and correct the injustice that the lower court upheld. Good for them

So, you agree that racism is alive and well in the USA. Correct?

Well if the police and the prosecution did a ****ty job, that got the wrong guy convicted, he should be released and compensated.

I couldn't care less that the guy is black, it sucks if anyone is wrongfully convicted.

If he was white, he would probably not have even been arrested, yet alone tried six times. Think about that.

"Hindsight is 20/20."

After six trials, hindsight encapsulates your problems Mr. Davis.

Of course it is. Listen to most any Louis Farrakhan speech amd you will hear racist ideas.

Because of the way the federal and thus many/most states' test(s) for racial bias in jury selection is structured, the government pretty much just has to put one black person on the jury and the judge won't find that there's been a pattern. Even then, if it's a venire with only a few black people in it, the government need only make sure to come up with reasons for striking black jurors that they then also use to strike white jurors. And jurors, you may be aware, fill out a questionnaire with stuff like education, career, etc. And naturally, because of how law is enforced in the U.S., a black person is more likely to have criminal convictions. That's another easy out for the government. They don't want people who got convicted of anything anytime recently on a jury

So do you disagree that racism os alive amd well or just don't like the example I gave of someone spreading racist ideas?

I've met the "only racism in America is Louis Farrakhan" crowd. And, they usually spell like that too.

MS pays 50 thousand for every year a wrongfully convicted defendant spends incarcerated, but the exonerated defendant must SUE to recover their money.

Curtis Flowers will be entitled to $1.1 million dollars

Good thing I've never claimed the "only" racism is the kind Louis Farrakhan spews. As for the spelling big fingers little keys on mobile device, **** happens. If it bothers you so much either ignore my posts or piss off grammar Nazi the choice is yours.

If Mr Flowers is the wrong person I hope he receives every penny he is deserved.

The OP proves that.

Nope.

But a country that chooses a leader who publicly defends the KKK and Neo Nazis as Trump did, that certainly does. ;)

Next.

To be fair, let's examine Chillfolks position:

So do you disagree that racism os alive amd well or just don't like the example I gave of someone spreading racist ideas?

Here it is:

1) Blacks have experience centuries of slavery, decades of segregation, centuries of lynching, denial of voting rights, denial of land ownership, denial of marriage, denial of bank loans, denial of education, racist laws, incarceration, and on and on and on, and encounter racist hate to this day, even from the current POTUS, who refused to rent to black skinned people..

2) Whites have experience a racist black man who called them names.

Chillfolks conclusion: It's all equal. There's nothing for either side to complain about.

Seems pretty reasonable to me calamity, what do you think?

Cool story. Missed the point and you draw the wrong conclusion.

Why not condemn racism in all its forms instead of excusing certain forms of it as not as bad as others.

Believe it or not, I think there are still some states that refuse to compensate wrongfully convicted persons.
I don't know how they get away with that.
After all, it's "the people of (name of state goes here) versus Joe Six Pack" when they're tried for the crime, so to my dumb ass, it sounds like the people of *name of state* are the ones who screwed up when the attorney general FOR that state decided to charge, try and convict old Joe.
Yeah, I'm sure one of our legal experts will try to explain how that works but no matter what the explanation, it sounds pretty rotten to me.

I can only go by what you posted. That was your argument, Farrakhan vs. the black experience in America.

I let my track record speak for itself.

Too bad those who support Trump, a racist who refused to rent to black skinned people and publicly defended the KKK and Neo Nazis, can't say the same, eh?

Believe it or not, I bet he doesn't think it's equal. He thinks whites are the real victims and blacks have the privileges. I am sure of it.

People can claim anything they want, especially on a internet debate forum. They can claim people they don't know are racist, they xan claim they have some sort of track record proving they are or aren't racist. What people claim on an anonymous internet forum should be taken with a grain of salt.

I would like to see people denounce all racism, instead of picking and choosing.

Proving agian you don't know what you're talking about

Nope my argument is Louis Farrakhan says racist crap, and racism is still alive and well in America. It's you that drew some waky verses comparison for whatever reason instead of condemning Farrakhan's racist language.
