Pete Buttigieg may be running a sparse campaign, but he has stood out for me amongst the crowded field of Democratic presidential candidates:

*Youngest mayor ever elected to a city of 100,000+ (at age 29)

*Afghanistan War Veteran

*Harvard and Oxford graduate (magna cum laude)

*Rhodes scholar

*Helped revitalize South Bend's blighted properties with his "1,000 Properties in 1,000 Days" Program

*Interesting Fact: Learned Norwegian because he found out his favorite author wrote several of his works in the language. He is also conversational in Spanish, Italian, Maltese, Arabic, Dari, and French.

So essentially, Mayor Pete is the anti-Trump. Btw, he's gay and has a husband. Normally that would have no impact on whether I'd support a politician, but it might be fun to see the Trumpcult/Evangelicals repeatedly step in it when handling that fact.

Correction: Mayor Pete has launched an exploratory committee but is not officially running yet.

I like what I hear and how he presents himself.

Should he become the nominee, I can’t imagine how toxic the run-up to the election would be.

I don’t see him getting the nod. I see no one standing out just yet.

It'll be toxic no matter who is nominated. One thing I love about this guy is how calm and composed he is. Watching him debate Trump would be quite the sight to see.

Yeah, none of my favorites get the nod, :( but crazier things have happened... *cough* 2016 *cough, cough*

Buttigieg/Yang ticket would be fantastic.

I just saw an interview on Morning Joe and I was impressed. At 29 he knows a lot about what is going on in the world and Washington. A long way to go, but I agree with you right now. Time will tell.

Sorry if my post was confusing. He was 29 when first elected mayor. I believe he is 37, now.

Mayor Pete is currently my favorite, and will happily vote for him in the Indiana primary if he's still in it at that time. What really impresses me is his ability to answer questions will poise and clarity, something I dont think any of the other Democratic candidates do nearly as well. While I dont think he'll get the nomination, I think he's going to be sticking around in Democratic politics for a long time, and this run is more of a "losing to win" type strategy to gain some good national attention.

Pete Buttigieg is good people. If he wins the Primary I’ll vote for him in a New York minute.

I heard Pete without knowing who it was, on NPR. He was being asked a lot of questions, and I was really impressed by the responses. Seemed very intelligent, but also very good at communicating his message without getting professorial. Didn't sounds canned politician, didn't sound like talking points, tackled the questions head-on but deftly...I don't know, I rarely am impressed by people, much less politicians. Seemed like he was that rare combination of high IQ, good heart, and easy communicator.

I'll have to see/hear more of him obviously, but looking forward to it.

Seeing him debate Trump would be tremendous.

This guy would be such a breath of fresh air to listen to compared to Donnie.

In other words, what Trump would call "a total loser!" Besides, he has a funny last name.

He may not get the nomination, but I think he is one of the people who will be needed during the primary process and debates.

While the Fake News gushes over his "gayness"....because genitalia, and genital preferences are "KEY" to great leadership...

Mayors Of Worst American Cities Are Running For President

Mayor Peter Buttigieg has announced that he’s forming an exploratory committee for a 2020 run. Media reports have focused on the possibility that he might become America’s first gay millennial president, instead of on the fact that he’s headed a city since 2011 which has double the national and statewide violent crime rates. And a city where Hispanic poverty rates are 10% higher than the national average, African-American households have double the poverty rate, and Asian-American incomes are halved.

South Bend was recently rated one of the “worst cities” to live in. The unemployment rates are higher than average, the property values are lower, and even the water quality is below average.

Gushing media reports about the gay millennial mayor, a Harvard grad and a Rhodes scholar, overlook South Bend’s poverty rate of 24.7% and that 45% of households are living near the poverty level.

New video with Mayor Pete, this time discussing foreign policy/military interventionism.

Refreshing to see someone in politics with a coherent thought, especially these days...

My dad’s a Fox News-watching Texan. What he said about Pete Buttigieg stunned me. – Alternet.org

Thought this article was interesting. Noticed conservative Youtube commenters are saying positive things about Pete, not because they agree with his policies necessarily, but they are impressed by his resume and his character. It was the same with my conservative parents. They had only good things to say about him and they don't seem to really mind he has a husband. Now, it is early and Pete is a new face in the race, so we'll see how long that positivity lasts, but so far so good.
