The awful reality that Donald Trump's attacks on John McCain prove - CNNPolitics

(CNN)On July 18, 2015, then-candidate Donald Trump said this about John McCain: "He's not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured."

On March 19, 2019, President Donald Trump offered this assessment of the late war hero and senator: "I was never a fan of John McCain and I never will be."

These 2 comments, coming 4 years apart, are bookends that show how much Trump has changed Republican politics, and not for the better.

You don't have to be a fan of McCain, but he does deceiver a certain measure of respect. Trump shows none ,nor any self control and you drooling fanboys can't get enough.

In all fairness, I think it's pretty safe to say that John McCain wasn't exactly Trump's biggest fan either.....

I've got a sociopathic sister-in-law.... she'll lie, cheat, and stab you in the back to get what she wants...
She reminds me a lot of Trump.
I find with her, the time to worry is when she starts saying nice things about you.

Wut? As someone who currently wears the uniform, I can definitively say that supporting Trump is not seen as disrespectful to the military. Trump won the majority of the military vote. It's worth mentioning that Johnson also got outsized support for how small of a stage he was standing on. Ron Paul got a ton of it. Bernie got a decent amount, despite being a far-left socialist.

Now...what do all of these people have in common? They aren't warmongers. It's almost as if Service Members don't like dying and getting blown up for political and corporate profits, something the traitor McCain was perfectly OK with.
 
Liberals never do their research...and only like someone if it benefits "Them" for the time being and if it effects Trump....

I'm not a fan of John McCain yet I would never be such a low-life to insult POWs. Trump should've been shamed out of the campaign after making that statement.

Also, I would push back on Trump not being a warhawk. He put John Bolton and Mike Pompeo in his cabinet, two notorious warhawks.
