There is a difference between not liking someone over their politics and attacking them (and others) for being captured in war. THAT is outrageous.
 
On the plus side, trump continues to show is colors and continue to lose support by voters, by Nov 2020 only his diehard will stand with him.

Trump is and in some ways we are an embarrassment. Compare Trump's performances as Chief Executive to the way the PM of NZ has handled the tragedy in her country. Compare how swiftly they are handling gun legislation there to a country that can't tell a 18th century musket from an AR-15. We are bending and twisting ourselves into a pretzel mainly because as a country still in the main controlled by old white men, we just don't like the consequences of this Constitutional Republic. "We" sort of liked it for awhile. We (old white men) barely tolerate it any longer....only still liking the parts we can bend and twist to our use.

Weld is a model instance of country above party. McCain was the same. Which is why each of 'em is and remains a threat to Putin, Trump and their Fanboys. We know Trump can't stand integrity.

Weld then Romney were elected governor of my native state Massachusetts because they were seen accurately as placing the well being and prosperity of the state above party and ideology. Weld was reelected and we know Obamacare as Massachusetts Romneycare which remains highly successful -- there aren't anywhere near enough rightwingers in Massachusetts to sabotage it. What did Romney in in the Bay State was running against Ted Kennedy for Senate. His only mistake.

Trump lost the Pentagon the moment he first went after McCain in his own emotionally tortured way. Trump does not have the support of the Pentagon chiefs and the theater commanders across the globe. Trump has their contempt only. Retired generals and admirals who'd endorsed Trump have gone silent because they can no longer speak up for this president.

Trump and Fanboys campaign to denigrate John McCain reveals how they can't ever put country above party or ideology. McCain put country above party consistently throughout his careers and his life. To Trump and Fanboys however party is above all else and the base is supreme. This is why the Pentagon chiefs and armed services commanders reject you -- entirely.

Trump, and many of his followers (including some here) don’t understand that publicly disagreeing with a deceased political foe can be done in a civil/non personal way. They only understand gutter behavior.

Weld, the governor of Massachusetts some 20-25 years ago is basically a no body in today's world of politics. I don't worry about Trump's mental stability. But Trump's continued attacks on the dead does show how sensitive this very thin skinned egotistic is. Trump's ego tells him he deserves nothing but praise. Whenever someone even thinks or hints something bad about him, Trump's very sensitive ego can't stand it. He then goes into the full attack feud mode against whomever. He can't let it go.

Someone with an ego that bruises so easily certainly isn't a tough, macho guy Trump wants to display. Trump is petty.

Well we can at least credit Weld with trying to put up a Center-Right position for the GOP. Where have Flake and Corker gone since leaving? Did they build cocoons for themselves? Kasich is beyond helpless. If he strays one centimeter off center he just scurries back to that line so fast that he will do it within the space of a couple of syllables.

Krystal is just anther media talking head at this point. So is Dent.
