The conservatives on the court no longer care about our constitution. They have been put there to enforce the GOP agenda and that includes Trump's agenda. The constituion means nothing to them. What counts is keeping the GOP in control. I would not be surprised if they outlawed the Dems from running for office in the first place and make Trump or some other GOper president for life. This is what you get when you put political operatives on our court. Now many Americans will no longer look to the court for impartial decisions.

They are not "illegals." Try reading.

So, you hate immigrants so much you'd deny one caught with a joint bond while letting a citizen rapist walk on $5K? Got it.

The court’s decision doesn’t create any new powers for ICE. In most of the country, immigrants were already ineligible for bond hearings if they were picked up for long-ago crimes, and often they were consigned to months of detention as they languished in a historically large court backlog. It just ends a brief period in which the West Coast, home of the Ninth Circuit, was the exception to that rule.

Actually, we've become more free. Fewer crimes, less reintroduction of diseases long eradicated in the US, less competition for jobs,

In announcing the decision from the bench, Justice Samuel Alito said the lower court had made a "policy judgment" using reasoning that "makes a mockery" of the federal immigration laws.

Under those laws, people are subject to "mandatory detention," meaning they don’t get a bond hearing, if they finish their criminal sentences and are then taken into custody by DHS agents. Alito said he read the law as imposing mandatory detention even if DHS doesn’t take custody right away and the person has already been released.

Federal agents often aren’t on hand to take custody when an immigrant is released by state or local officials.
President Donald Trump’s administration says the problem is especially acute in jurisdictions that don’t cooperate with requests to hold a prisoner until federal officials arrive. Those jurisdictions are commonly known as sanctuary cities. The Trump administration inherited the case from the Obama administration.

The ruling reversed a decision by the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have the power to arrest people who aren’t US citizens and detain them for months or years, based on past convictions
