So Beto in today’s Democratic Party has to apologize for the crime of his wife being a mother who actually loves their children

Look at this.

Why it matters that Beto O’Rourke said he '''sometimes''' helps his wife raise their 3 kids - ABC News

So his apology for saying his wife raised their kids is because the democrats have been taken over by radicals, look at this sample from the reporting

While O'Rourke's comments did seem in praise of his wife, Amy, his words are "not harmless," according to Caity Collins, assistant professor of sociology at Washington University in St. Louis and the author of "Making Motherhood Work: How Women Manage Careers and Caregiving."
"I’m not at all surprised. I’m disappointed, but I’m not at all surprised," she said of O'Rourke's comments. "[His remarks] suggest that it's a mom's job to raise kids, and having that very unequal division of labor has disastrous consequences for women both at home and in the workforce."

Umm it is a mother’s job to raise her children “Professor” Collins.

But look at how much this thinking has poisoned society and how extreme it is. It’s apparently now wrong that a mother raised her children and her husband supports her in doing so.

Hello man from the 1950s, it is the responsibility of both parents to raise the children. Perhaps in different seasons, one person makes more of an income amd the other assists more, but there is no universal manual from god (sorry Bible) that mandates that women are alone reaponsible for child rearing.

This is also old news and Beto still beats Trump in the polls right now.

No, it's not the mother's job to raise her children, it is the parents job. If O'Rourke's wife does take a more focused role in their parenting I see nothing wrong with him acknowledging and appreciating that.

Yeah so did Hillary.

Regardless of how you divide labor, in nearly all cases mothers do more work raising children, and in most cases it is most practical to have the mother raise the child. And there is nothing wrong with this. I don’t care if it’s [current year] everyone knows this is the case which is why the democrats are pushing government mandates for paid maternity leave while at the same time making Beta fall in line for openly saying it

Orly, Ward Cleaver? i suppose it's also the mother's job to spend all day cleaning the house, and then change into a chiffon dress and pearls and put a ribbon in her hair while she waits for Father to come home from work, putting his slippers on his feet while he rests with his pipe and his smoking jacket waiting for Mother to serve him a pot roast dinner.

His original statement was an awkward attempt to pay his wife a compliment.
It sure doesn't take much to claim you're offended and demand an apology these days.
He should worry more about what happens when his manic routine becomes tiresome to voters and they expect more substance.

If you are a centrist or moderate sure. Problem is these days the extremes are fighting like mad to take control. They are painting the majority of candidates as bad. Some are playing into it. Biden never should have said "I am the most progressive candidate ever." He should have said he was a liberal and a democrat and proud of it. Now he has given the extremes something to laugh at and use it for memes.

You can see Beto's inexperience now on a national level. He flubs a lot and is indeed a goofball. It can be endearing though and add that realness. He just has to stop apologizing.

I didnt say all that, but what is wrong with any of that if that’s how a couple has arranged their marriage? My mother makes more money then my father and so my father works part time and takes care of the domestic running of the household. However my mother loves me and my brothers and so she spent more time raising us when we were younger. And worked nights so she was there in the day. Really good example

However a mother who doesnt raise her children is neglectful. That is pretty much fact.

It will depend on who wins the primary. Beto would have no problem winning the general. Its the primaries that are the killer.

I agree with you in basic principle. The candidate who can win the primary is not necessarily the strongest in the general.

Sure, but in most cases his primary role is to provide for the family. Since in most cases his income potential and willingness to sacrifice is greater.

The roles are not equal, they are complementary

It used to be that the fringes were minimalized to a great extent. Now they are the loudest out there. Tweeting, shaming and yelling at others. Or painting centrists/moderates (most of the US by the way) as fence sitters or "meh" people with no opinion. Beto's biggest problem will be the Sanders and Warren supporters. They are all over social media branding the others.

I disagree. If Beto is subject to a sustained negative campaign he stands maybe a 50-50 chance at best, and since he’s obviously a weak willed person next to genuine alpha male Donald Trump I think it’s Lower

I think he has potential to appeal all over. His problem would be like Hillary's if the bots and Bernie fans sink him and vote Green or stay home. Now having said that, I havent seen a debate yet so that could change. If he ends up having no solid platform it could hurt him.
