What sends a chill down my spine is a recent poll which showed that more Democrats than Republicans wish those on the other side would just die off and that if the other side wins the 2020 election, violence would be justified. That's what we should worry about, not some lone woman.

Has any of this nonsense ever turned into anything remotely resembling an administration of the US Executive or has it gotten continually more intense occupying more and more of what Trump views as his role. How are NK negotiations hangin' DonDon? How far off is a China deal now DonDon?Has he ever been more than a carnival barker marketing himself and tweaking his audience of cultish followers every chance he gets and do we think four more years of that makes any sense at all? Considering that it has never gotten any better and has in fact gotten worse month by month, can we even survive two more years of this nonsense.

We have about a half dozen members, maybe more here at DP who are perfectly okay with the concept of Trump seizing power as a dictator, a king...whatever...seizing and retaining power by other-than-constitutional means.

They are A-OK with throwing away the entire Constitution and kneeling before the altar of absolute authoritarianism.
That means there's probably another hundred or so who haven't said so but who would "have to stop and think about it for a moment...Hmmmmmm...maybe."

Hmmmm...maybe, under the right circumstances.

It also means that on top of that, there's probably a few hundred who, if pressed, would prefer that to a Democrat or other liberal taking power. Maybe not ideal circumstances but better than living in a country run by Democrats.
For these people, one party rule is A-OK.

I would have to guesstimate that as much as 10-15% of the country actually believes that being a Democrat or a liberal of any kind should be against the law.

That is the logic used by dictators to justify tyranny.

So, yes, it is the work of a dictator to end run congress. It ignores the entire reason the framers put the congress there in the first place.

In the final analysis, that is just an opinion. As to "what the safety and security" of a nation is, the final arbiter of that is congress, so say the framers, when they put in the constitution that it is congress who controls the purse.

I respect that optimism but I always see the glass half empty. If you see it half full you are often disappointed.
