No. I believe people should choose for themselves. My whole point is that we should encourage people to be rational and logical and think for themselves not have an authority to tell them what to think.

China is an interesting case. You can argue that it is actually a Buddhist state because its government is heavily involved in the Buddhist religion and Buddhism is the religion that is encouraged. So that leaves only the USSR. The crimes committed by Russia were mostly by Stalin trying to force people into communal farming, and this policy has nothing to do with atheism. It wasn't atheism that was used as the main ideology of the communists, atheism was one of the side beliefs, it was communism that was the real religion of the USSR. Most Russians including many who supported the government were actually Orthodox Christian.

And remember my last point that we have seen horrible religious governments as well, in fact they far outnumber the atheist ones. Most nations with large atheistic populations are democratic republics and the vast majority of atheists in these countries definitely don't want a state religion of any kind and that includes atheism. This does prove that faith-based ideological thinking can be seen outside religion and is especially dangerous when applied to politics. That is why we must oppose all ideological faiths, both religious and secular.

China is specifically an atheistic regime. Not sure what you're talking about there. The modern communist, which the USSR was and China is, sprung out of this.

I have actually been to China a few times. They have an official communist atheist ideology, but in practice they govern a lot differently. In practice they are more of a capitalistic dictatorship that is totally fine with Buddhism and many of the top Buddhist temples have connections in the Chinese government. When Marx said that religion is the opiate of the masses, the Chinese leaders were definitely listening and used that. In China the older people tend to be Buddhist and there are temples everywhere. The younger people are a mix of Buddhist and secular, but a lot of that secularism is thanks to western influence that is eroding their traditional culture.
