1998? That was 20 years ago. Whatever happened to "compassionate Conservatism"? /s
I hear you on that point. But regardless of who he picks for VP, I would still be concerned about his age. I'd prefer a younger top of the ticket.
Exactly my point the only argument for Biden is that he’s not Trump. You can rarely win by just being not someone else
Biden to fix the nation and bring us back to the center, and reunite the nation...
Beto to appeal to younger voters looking for change...
If biden runs on one term with Beto the likely successor, how could they lose?
What was O'Rourke convicted of?
To be perfectly frank, I think Biden is a has-been and O'Rourke is a never-was. You need to take a good, hard look at Biden's last two attempts at running for President (1988 & 2008) if you want to get a feel for how the third will go.
On paper, they both look great... in practice, not so much.
My money is on Hickenlooper-Klobuchar.
Okay, so you were speaking for yourself. But nationwide that does nothing to change the fact his corruption, fraud and criminality have had zero impact on his approval ratings since he was inaugurated.
My *hope* is Hickenlooper, but I'm not so sure about Klobuchar. The Dem is probably going to win Minnesota anyway. I would pick a running mate who can deliver a swing state.
Ideally, sure.... I've got Sherrod Brown as my alternate VP pick. But if we're talking about actually having a VP that could take over, Klobuchar is the better pick. Plus, she'd be a lot more impressive on the campaign trail, and will have built-in support and infrastructure from her campaign. Brown may (or may not) bring Ohio, but I figure Klobuchar brings more to the ticket.
Brown was actually who I was thinking of. Ohio is so critical to the win. Trump lost MN and they have tilted left since 2016 so I don't see it being a state that is in jeopardy.
I think she's more dynamic than Brown, for sure. Brown may not bring Ohio as you said, but I think it's a better chance with him on the ticket. JMO.
Whatever transpires, it will be interesting to watch for sure. I didn't predict Pence as Trump's mate (it only made the ticket look even worse to me). I didn't predict Palin either. Ryan I understood. Kaine too.
The VP isn't going to win the election for you, but they sure as hell can lose it.... personally, I'd rather get someone who's a proven commodity outside of their own state.
I predicted the Republican VP was going to be Pence or Kasich.... I just never predicted Trump was going to be the nominee. But the key was always going to be winning the Great Lakes states. Same thing goes this time around.
Tempermentally, I think Hickenlooper and Klobuchar are a better fit, and I think she'll still give a certain amount of regional appeal. Plus, just picture how much of a contrast she'll make to Pence in the VP debate.
Thank you for admitting he has a criminal record.
But you also can. Look at Trump. How many people voted for him because he wasn't Clinton? On this very board I can think of a dozen or so who made that exact claim.
And there's me. For the first time in 40 years I plan to vote for the Democratic candidate, because it isn't Trump.
Just because he wasn't convicted doesn't mean it didn't happen. It's an accepted, supported fact that it happened.
Why now and not 2016? I didnt vote for Trump in 2016 but I sure as **** aint going to vote for Biden just because he isnt Trump. Ill vote libertarian party again if the show a strong ticket like before.
I predicted that Kasich would NOT be Trump's running mate. He's too smart to align himself with that fraud.
She will wreck Pence in a debate, if it came to that. He has all the pizzazz of a Bic pen.

Well, to be fair, this was back when I figured the nominee would probably be Bush.... I figured the ideal running mate would be a Great Lakes Governor with Congressional experience.... Pence and Kasich were the two I came up with.
I think Klobuchar would clobber Pence a lot more impressively than Brown would.
I voted for Johnson in 2016.
I said in another thread a few weeks ago that I hope Biden isn't the candidate. I also hope Warren isn't. But at the end of the day there is no way I would vote for Trump, and I want him out of office. If that means voting for a Dem I don't much care for I'll do it.

I do like hickenlooper, however anytime I mention him i get "Hickenwho"?

Here's what I see happening... Biden is going to keep playing Hamlet all the rest of this year, and the thought of him joining the race will scare off a lot of the moderates. Meanwhile, with the field so crowded on the left, it'll leave the center open for Hickenlooper to run pretty much unimpeded. It'll be 1976 all over again.... when Carter came out of nowhere to win. Back then, people were looking for an anti-Nixon, and Carter fit the bill. Next year, they'll be looking for the anti-Trump.... and that will play into Hickenlooper's low-key, thoughtful approach.
