AOC's worst tweet yet

That tweet was an abomination. Thoughts and prayers are exactly what these victims need. Those that attend religious service in a Mosque, Synagogue, or Church use thoughts and prayers.

Not to worry. Trump made it all better with his stable geniusy tweet.....

“My warmest sympathy and best wishes goes out to the people of New Zealand after the horrible massacre in the Mosques,”

Geez, it's as if The Donald is sending a "get well soon" message to a political donor.

The yuge difference? One is the leader of the free world, the other is 1/435 of 1/2 of a branch of federal government.

A distinction without a difference.

Wow.

That is an absolutely pathetic argument.

It's actually not. You guys created the monster Trump with your TDS, allowing extremists to think they are marching to Trump's orders when, in fact, you guys have the blood on your hands for making Trump into this alter ego thing you can attack for partisan purposes.

To the right wing: AOC owns you lock, stock and smoking barrel. In all my years, and I will soon be 70, I have never see the obsession some righties have with Cortez. Its funny and mesmerizing at the same time.

The only thing funny is your characterization. The right loves her, maybe more than the delusional lefties that actually support her. I say keep her coming. Now excuse me while I go back to the billionth Trump bashing thread or the billions hours of anti-Trump news coverage.

Oh? What is this "doubt" based on?

You are the one who suggested this guy reads Trump's tweets. Where is your evidence that he reads Trumps tweets? And, by the way, it doesn't count if you are talking about the left wing media hostility that interprets Trump's tweets to their own political advantage and broadcasts them around the world. You lefties and the lefty media turned Trump into a make believe monster who these extremists think they are emulating when they do these things. The blood is on your hands.

He praised Trump as a "Symbol Of Renewed White Identity." Are you suggesting that Tarrant didn't have a Twitter account?

Incredible. Not only do you totally ignore the fact that the far right shooter was specifically going after Muslims due to a popular right wing fantasy—-the idea that Muslims are some sort of enemy out to “replace white people” but you desperately attempt to blame the media for criticizing your Dear Leader.

Neither does posting on the internet about how much you dislike it, but here you are...

What did I say I didn't like? Quote me on that, bud. I didn't start this little whine thread. AOC is 1000% correct on this. Saying "thoughts and prayers" doesn't do a god damn thing for the victims or their families.

"Quote me on that, bud." Rofl...so pathetic.

Why does anyone care about the bull**** and incorrect nonsense this unqualified freshman twit says. AOC is the gnat of Congress. Annoying sound in your ear but poses no threat and is best shooed away to go about ones day paying no mind

"Quote me on that, bud." Rofl...so pathetic.

You said I disliked something, show me where I said in this thread I disliked something. All I did in this pathetic little right wing bitch thread you guys start every day over AOC is point out that she's 100% correct.

If you disagree with me so much, perhaps you can explain to me why saying "thoughts and prayers" helps the victims and their families. It doesn't seem like you have any interest in contributing to this thread or expressing a coherent or relevant thought.

I would strongly disagree. Many times with shootings like these we become disillusioned with humanity. Thoughts and prayers help us from completely losing it. So yes, thoughts and prayers do matter for the victim's families and friends. It shows we as humans are together and share a kindred bond no matter how much evil exists in this world.

So we should do "thoughts and prayers" everywhere and do away with a bunch of laws.

Tell that beaten wife she has our thoughts and prayers and move on, right?

Die of an oxycontin overdose? Thoughts and prayers.

Think of all the money we would save.

If some right wing crazy high on conservative propaganda kills someone I love you can stuff your thoughts and prayers. (Some left wing crazy high on liberal propaganda too, but that doesn't happen as much).

Again, demonstrating that you dislike it. Now cry more.

We are talking about New Zealand. They have tough laws on guns.

Even if you could ban all guns tomorrow, that wouldn't eliminate tragedy, murder, and senseless violence.

After that AOC uses this terrorist attack to insult the NRA:

I am not sure what the NRA has to do with the shooting in New Zealand. I didn't realize the NRA had their own phrase either.

Save your fake outrage.

Who has said we should do away with laws and replace them with thoughts and prayers?

Her statement about "thoughts and prayers" is a commentary on how that phrase is used to sweep underlying issues under the rug when they're inconvenient. In this case, that may be guns, the spread of white supremacy and the impact that Donald Trump has on the world scene and the spread of xenophobism.

And if prayers were going to make any difference shouldn't the shooter have been stopped by the people inside actually praying?

The criticism is that "thoughts and prayers" are in fact intended to deflect from very real underlying problems, such as the situation that takes place when you combine saturation of firearms with extremism. In this case, you have a relatively high gun-saturated nation (though low compared to the US), combined with the introduction of right wing extremism. What are thoughts and prayers supposed to do about either?

I consider it more a mental health issue. Yet we don't make mental healthcare a priority. Too expensive.

I'm a second amendment liberal. I just tend to look for actual solutions to problems instead of picking one designed by those whose oxen would be gored by a real solution.

For instance I don't want new laws passed or money spent on border security until the existing laws against the hiring of illegals are enforced. Notice how that parallels pro-gun rhetoric?

The gun lobby? More precisely "No more laws or regulations. Thoughts and prayers are all we can do."

"Too bad, so sad" sounds bad. But that's the attitude.

Its like the elevator in one of the hotels I work at that says "Sorry for keeping you waiting".

So I accuse Bucky of being irrational in his OP, and you accuse me of pedophilia. That's seems proportionate.

WHAT (insert multiple exclamation marks). I was thinking of the famous'football' team in Arizona.

Thoughts and prayers don't do jack squat.

The phrase has become an idiotic and robotic response.

If thoughts and prayers worked, we wouldn't have these tragedies.
