Sandy Hook families can sue gun manufacturer Remington, lower court ruling overturned

Studies by the centers for Disease Control (CDC) were showing that guns were a serious public health hazard, no different than smoking. That’s why the gun lobby pushed congress to ban further research there, and successfully pushed for gag orders on physicians from even being able to bring up the findings with their patients.

Gun Violence as a Public Health Issue – Science-Based Medicine

Bans on research and gag orders in Physicians, because we are a free country, right?

A stupid lie because smoking harms those who use the product as intended. Shooting a firearm does not. And using our tax dollars to create leftwing anti gun propaganda is nonsensical and that is why the anti gun propagandists at the CDC were prevented from lobbying for gun bans.

That’s not what the public health specialists say.

Public health has nothing to do with the criminal misuse of firearms. They don't have a valid area of expertise.

If any "public health specialist" compares guns to cigarettes they are mentally disabled.

Those that do are invariably big government lefties.

It will be interesting to see this play out. I'm not a fan at all of suing manufacturers (like the cigarette manufacturers) for the actions of the stupid.

That said, I always see these things involving those families, and I can't help but be on their sides.

I'm torn here.

What did the gun maker do that harmed the family? The gun was sold to a licensed dealer pursuant to the laws of the USA and CT. The firearm was then sold to a retail buyer after she passed a background check and waiting period. Her son shot her in the head while she slept with a gun that none of the gun haters yet want to ban, and he took her other firearms and murdered people in violation of several of the most serious laws in CT.

There are absolutely no safe uses for an AR15 with high capacity magazine clips and bumpstocks. The public needs thise as much as they need live nuclear ordnances in their garage.

Lets stop your patent lies right now-

Comparing a semi auto rifle-a device that is used millions of times each week in the USA with no harmful effect upon anyone with a Nuke-shows how dishonest your argument is. These style rifles were sold buy the hundreds of thousands to US citizens by the federal government. Almost every CIVILIAN police department issues these type rifles as well

And there was no bump stock used in CT.

so you have lied several times. But that is SOP with the anti gun movement

What do you mean where? This is a violation of the federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. It is not going to survive challenge.

and hopefully, those who brought the suit will be responsible for paying for every dollar the gun maker expends in defending itself against this idiocy

...when they were became fiercely defended against any regulation. I remember the defense at the time, when asked what possible legitimate use these things had, or what need they fulfilled, was: “the second amendment says nothing about need.”

But now you want to talk about legitimate needs and uses for why AR15s are OK but nuclear ordnances are not? Where does it say anything about “need” in the 2A in order to have access to any kind of arms?

You guys have to get your arguments a little more coherent and consistent. You’re all over the place in your frantic effort to sound like you have some legitimate and consistent argument.

Lets examine the stupidity in your arguments-tell us what you think a legitimate use of a firearm is.

They have a strong case...Hopefully they'll win and put these Gun Nut Arms dealers out of business

Actually they have no case, no out of court settlement here and they will win nothing from a jury, nor will any laws be changed. Simple as that.

We need a good laugh: tell us how their case is strong-especially in light of the federal prohibition on such lawsuits-and since the maker is based outside of CT, there is no way for the state of CT to argue their internal laws can obtain jurisdiction without invoking federal supremacy

Incorrect.

An AR15 isn't any more evil than any number of firearms.

Magazines (not clips) of and by themselves are safe..

As are bumpstocks.

I'm rooting for the families, the victims...Not the Gun Nuts

AR-15=Favorite weapon of criminals and terrorists...Outlaw them.NOW!

Stop lying. More people are beaten to death each year than have been killed by AR 15s in the last five years

Besides, more people are killed every year with hand guns and knives, hell. More are probably killed with hands and feet, than are killed with an AR-15. So all of this hysteria is pretty much wasted.

You should go to the families in Sandy Hook and tell them that...They are sure to be impressed...Of course you won't...You are a coward

If a personal attack is the best you can muster. Which to be honest is usually all that you ever can muster, to be exact.
Then I suggest you either try harder, or not at all.

Because Hook was a tragedy, nothing more. But people like you, that like to stand on those corpses and make their political grand standings, or swing moral outrage about like a hammer. Are some of the worst examples of humanity that this planet has to offer.

I caught a nasty cold from one of my guns. It turned into pneumonia and almost killed me. I had that gun vaccinated. Now I never caught a cold from any of my unicorns.

Yeah I figured you didn't have the guts to face them

You should go and try to seize AR 15s from the people who own them. Of course you won't./

Yeah I figured you didn't have the guts to face them

Bring them to me, I'll face them.
That way we can ask them how they feel about you constantly beating your feet on their children's memory.

The gun manyfacturers’ continued aggressive marketing of a known public health hazard is not unlike the tobacco industry’s continued shameless marketing of smoking after studies had proven the tobacco/cancer link. They need to be held liable for pushing a known dangerous product on the public the same as the tobacco industry.

Now if the public wants to keep buying these products, it should still be their prerogative, just like smoking. It should not be banned, as that invariably creates backlash out of spite alone. Let them keep buying it. A fool and his money must part. But the manufacturers should be held liable for false advertising and propagating myths with their claims of “guns make us safer” and the image of the real American and real man needing a huge gun to keep his home and country safe. This is no different than the Joe Camel advertising campaign by the tobacco industry to kids and adolescents that smoking makes you cool.

One particular company advertises, to civilians, all about the militaristic applications of the assault rifle they manufacture,
