Another case of anyone can run for President.

To be fair, he was on a small city counsel. :(

El Paso isn't a small city and to be fair, he served 6 years in the US house.

IMO, his popularity stems from his Kennedy-esk looks.

He looks (and acts) like a doofus.

El Paso is what, half a million people? Smaller than even Boston, Columbus OH or Charlotte NC. or even Fort Worth.

What, exactly, is wrong with that (bolded above)? Do you feel that the US Constitution was somehow remiss in defining the requirements for becoming POTUS?

Obviously

I think Trump has made that clear.

Hmm... It seems that you prefer to have a POTUS who looks (and acts) "better" and comes from a large (top 10 in population?) city. Should we change the US Constitution to add those two requirements to become eligible to run for POTUS?

Red:
It doesn't much matter from where a US Representative hails. They all represent ~747K people, or a whole state if the state's population is less than 747K people. Accordingly, though Beto is from El Paso, because he's in TX with it's ~28M people, it's likely he, like representatives of Boston's polity, represents roughly the same number of folks that Boston US Representatives do.

I love the Beto logic, you can't win a senate seat in TX, your home, then run for president and you'll surly get elected.

You could have easily looked it up yourself. Instead you focus on Trump rather than the topic [your own] at hand.

Wild.

Just wild.

El Paso does not have 900,000.

The cities I named all have more folks.

Trumpetville. Where facts have no place and agenda is everything.

Excuse me, that was the greater El Paso metro area. They have nearly 700,000 in the city. But WTF does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

THAT'S a large city!

And why do you discount his time in the House?

To a Trumpet it may well be.

To an educated, traveled man, it's an outpost.

Considering the issues [border security, removing the barriers, getting rid of ICE, etc] important to him, his district is on the frontline.

His family's supposed connection with the Cartels and money laundering makes him a dangerous Leftist.

These are issues to you?

In a national election? This trite nonsense?

God help this country.

Well that isn't far -fetched.
A *FAR* left liberal generaly isn't going to fare well in Texas, but will do just fine in all the Blue states. He's guaranteed the votes in Cali, NY, NJ, Conn, MAss an Ill. Then it's just a matter of winning a few swing states.

Be interesting to see if he tries to outpander the other *FAR* lefties ( most of the field) or tries to pretend he's not as crazy as those kooks.

Beto did well in Texas...Is Texas becoming more "left"?

If by did well you mean came in second (aka lost) to Cruz then yep. Texas has its large urban centers which lean left and the RGV leans left. My gerrymandered House district leans left as well. Overall, Texas is still likely to go for Trump again.

Please elaborate.

Isn't that more population than Wyoming??? How many votes does it take to make a Cheney a Senator, anyway???

I am sure that Trump try to Veto Beto? Nonetheless, it is likely that Beto will Veto Trump.
