I have read the tweets

I have watched the coverage

Is there a disconnect here?

I understand the media from the Right making a big deal out of this. I do not understand why main stream media or the left leaning media is jumping on the band wagon.

If you take any of her tweets and replace Israel with some other Country, there is nothing to talk about except
a) Good point - should we change our policy toward 'x' country?
or
b) Is she crazy? why would we even discuss this? The current policy is the correct one.

Those that took into consideration that Israel is made up of majority Jewish population, are being discriminatory.

The one thing we have learned is that many anti-Semites are pro Israel. Most christian white supremacists fit here .
Another fact is that many Americans, who support the Jewish cause are against the current Government in Israel.

Some Americans are really weird. They think that in order to resolve the Israeli/Palestinian dispute You have to recognize that:
a) Both sides have good points to support their respective opinions.
b) Both sides have done terrible things.

The worst thing we can do is to shut down debate, by shouting 'antisemitism' at anyone who brings the topic up.
Even if that person bringing it up, happens to be Muslim.

I came to the same conclusion. Sure, she doesn't like Israel - I get that. I don't like quite a few countries myself, and see no reason why we should be giving them a penny. This includes Israel.

Yeah, liberals, including the media have started calling everyone racist. The word racist has no meaning anymore. Now it's the same with anti-Semitism.

I can't stand Republicans because they harbor racists. I believe they use dog whistle and do things to placate the racists among them. Reagan vetoes the sanctions against South Africa for apartheid. Congress had to override his veto.

But still, I can't stand how Northam is called a racist because of one picture 30 years ago while ignoring everything he's done since. And I don't think Megyn Kelly is racist just because she said something stupid. And De Santis, who I can't stand, said "monkeying around" and they jumped on it as proof he's a racist.

I don't think there's anything anti-Semitic about what Omar said. It's totally crazy. But both sides play this game. I really wish people would stop using racism and anti-Semitism as tools for political advantage.

I think what she said -twice-wss at the very least extremely insensitive. Borderline antisemitic. I think she should resign, and I say this as a person who actually voted for her

What did she say that was extremely insensitive and antisemitic specifically?

Yeah, I was curious about this too. He said he was one who voted for her. I believe him. Liberals seem most prone to take offense on behalf of someone else or a group.

In my opinion if you are personally offended by something, speak up.
A.) If others agree they will also speak up on your behalf.
B.) But if your perceived offense is stupid self-victim hood . Expect that to be reflected in the responses you get.

If it does not offend you personally, be part of group A, or B

You think Republicans use "dog whistles," but you can't see anything anti-Semitic in Omar's tweets?

Only attuned to certain frequencies, I guess.

Reminder: the President of the United States took the side of actual Nazis after the Charlottesville protest.

The same ideology that complains about Democrats exploiting identity politics also shamelessly shout antisemitism whenever Israel is put into any sort of scrutiny.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that she supports CAIR, a terror-supporting organization who hate Jews.

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

Everyone in this thread knows this applies to you, so why don't you bug off, deplorable.

Why should anyone listen to you, racist birther?

No, because there is nothing there. She's criticizing Israel and AIPAC. Netanyahu came to our Congress to influence us. Am I anti-Semitic if I didn't appreciate that? If I criticize Israel shooting unarmed people at border with snipers, does that make me anti-Semitic?

Are we really going to pretend that Israel has no lobbyists?

My frequency is rationality. I'll point out irrationality on either side.

I'm not the least bit surprised that the homeboi who was a birther also believes the CAIR support terrorism. I bet you believe there's a sex dungeon in the fictional basement of a pizza parlor.

Ilhan Omar said:
Our democracy is built on debate, Congresswoman! I should not be expected to have allegiance/pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in Congress or serve on committee. The people of the 5th elected me to serve their interest. I am sure we agree on that!

Who's the hateful one?

Who's the hateful one?

Islamaphobia is accepted.

It's crazy that the same guy who proposed a Musim ban is criticizing someone for being anti-Semitic.

I am much older than you MYCROFT.

I remember when the Israeli leadership was made up of "Freedom Fighters" while the Palestinians fighting for their freedom were terrorists.

If you want to resolve the Israeli/Palestinian conflict you have to admit that there are a-holes on both sides. Also on both sides are ordinary families, trying to provide for, and raise their children. Children who are being killed.

Isn't it possible that the Palestinian solution will not work for Israel and the Israeli solution will not work for the Palestinians?

Perhaps discussion needs to take place, discussion without the automatic condemnation of those with a point of view that conflicts with one's own?

Reminder: the President of the United States took the side of actual Nazis after the Charlottesville protest.

There are times when you say lots of intelligent things, in lots of posts, on lots of subjects.
This was not one of those times.

And I don't know who you are or if you've ever said an intelligent thing.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Calling CAIR a terrorist organization says absolutely nothing.

Deal with what they propose, and not labels. If it's labels, then racist, sexist, homophobic, blah blah blah mean something, which they don't.

Deal with facts, rather than feelings.

Of course, anyone that criticizes Israel for any reason should be forced to resign right? Why should our politicians put what's good for Israel above what's good for America?
