Ilhan Omar: anti-Semitic trope?

Reminder: the President of the United States took the side of actual Nazis after the Charlottesville protest.

Yeah, no one's falling for this lie Cardinal. So you can just go ahead and let it go.

I have read the tweets

I have watched the coverage

Is there a disconnect here?

I understand the media from the Right making a big deal out of this. I do not understand why main stream media or the left leaning media is jumping on the band wagon.

If you take any of her tweets and replace Israel with some other Country, there is nothing to talk about except
a) Good point - should we change our policy toward 'x' country?
or
b) Is she crazy? why would we even discuss this? The current policy is the correct one.

Those that took into consideration that Israel is made up of majority Jewish population, are being discriminatory.

The one thing we have learned is that many anti-Semites are pro Israel. Most christian white supremacists fit here .
Another fact is that many Americans, who support the Jewish cause are against the current Government in Israel.

Some Americans are really weird. They think that in order to resolve the Israeli/Palestinian dispute You have to recognize that:
a) Both sides have good points to support their respective opinions.
b) Both sides have done terrible things.

The worst thing we can do is to shut down debate, by shouting 'antisemitism' at anyone who brings the topic up.
Even if that person bringing it up, happens to be Muslim.

No anti semites support Israel, that is simply a lie.

And the reason opposition to Israeli policy is anti Semitic period is because anti Israel activists defame the sole Jewish state in the world while paying little attention to massive human rights abuses in the Islamic world.

The opposition to Israel is motivated by belief the Jews don’t belong in their ancestral homeland and this is why a handful of Israeli “crimes” are Trumped up and the terrorists who hate Israel are lauded

I'm not the least bit surprised that the homeboi who was a birther also believes the CAIR support terrorism. I bet you believe there's a sex dungeon in the fictional basement of a pizza parlor.

Two idiotic premises don't make a point.

CAIR has actually had such issues in the past, as far back as 2007. So you trying to cast shade with something that isn't even related to the topic. Is pretty much par for the course in instances like this.

Of course, anyone that criticizes Israel for any reason should be forced to resign right? Why should our politicians put what's good for Israel above what's good for America?

What’s good for Israel is very good for America.

You don’t criticize Israel, you want them wiped off the map and the area occupied by Muslims who don’t belong there

No, what's good for Israel is not always good for America, and I support a two-state solution so you're intentionally lying. Not a shred of honesty in you.

Genocide is good for America?

I really donn't care enough about it, if I'm honest. It's not like it's going to affect me if they're occupied by muslims.

Sucks to be Israeli, I guess. Not my problem.

What did she say that was extremely insensitive and antisemitic specifically?

What she said played on the old trope of "Jews with money control everything." Straight out of Hitler propaganda (it probably didn't originate with him, but he used it).

Nobody "belongs" anywhere. If you want to get really technical, white people don't "belong" on this continent.

What she said was not "Israel shouldn't treat Palestinans like that." If she did, I'd agree with her. What she said was closer to "An evil Jewish cabal with money is controlling things."

Yeah, no one's falling for this lie Cardinal. So you can just go ahead and let it go.

He was very careful not to offend them though. Curious. I would normally expect the President to be anti-Nazi.

No, because there is nothing there. She's criticizing Israel and AIPAC. Netanyahu came to our Congress to influence us. Am I anti-Semitic if I didn't appreciate that? If I criticize Israel shooting unarmed people at border with snipers, does that make me anti-Semitic?

Are we really going to pretend that Israel has no lobbyists?

My frequency is rationality. I'll point out irrationality on either side.

It's unfortunate that you don't recognize repeated anti-Semitic tropes when they come from people you agree with politically.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Calling CAIR a terrorist organization says absolutely nothing.

Deal with what they propose, and not labels. If it's labels, then racist, sexist, homophobic, blah blah blah mean something, which they don't.

Deal with facts, rather than feelings.

It's not me calling them a terrorist organization.

It's a Middle East country calling them a terrorist organization:

UAE publishes list of terrorist organisations

It is our own FBI that cut off relations with CAIR back in 2008:

FBI Cuts Off CAIR Over Hamas Questions :: The Investigative Project on Terrorism

It is our own DOJ that named CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator in the HLF case:

https://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/265.pdf

So no, Bilgewater, this has nothing to do with feelings. Rather it has everything to do with facts.

Now...as to Omar and her support of CAIR, here are the facts:

After claiming AIPAC buys politicians, Rep. Ilhan Omar to speak for Hamas-linked CAIR, which has given her thousands

btw, Omar's buddy Rashida Tlaib, another freshman Dem lawmaker, is also in bed with CAIR:

I think what she said -twice-wss at the very least extremely insensitive. Borderline antisemitic. I think she should resign, and I say this as a person who actually voted for her

This sounds like the opinion of an ultimate snowflake. Why should anyone be asked to resign because of saying something “insensitive” unless she is in kindergarten and the idea is to teach her good manners?

So carful not to offend, means Trump is pro-Nazi now?
Even though he condemned the actions and that didn't make anyone happy. But even another round of conciliatory statements would do anything to abate the medias ignorance in all of this.

So no, still not going to fall for that lie.

The media of both sides are "jumping on the bandwagon" because those media are sometimes owned by AIPAC members or certainly sympathetic to AIPAC. That is, mainstream media does the bidding of AIPAC.

Why a two state solution? Arab Muslims have their own countries comprising over 90% of the Middle East? Why should the Jews have a divided state with indefensible borders? What we should do is strong arm the Arab league into to taking the Palestinians and relocate all of them among the Arab countries.

It's unfortunate that you don't recognize repeated anti-Semitic tropes when they come from people you agree with politically.

This is the first year that I've heard the word trope thrown around so much.

Is there a list of tropes somewhere so people don't accidentally step on them like land mines?

What trope did Omar step on?

Did you think there was no answer?

If a Republican said this, you and I would both be calling for his head on a platter. I'm not going to give Omar a pass because she's a Democrat.

Alright, let's add "Jews control the media" to the list!

Because Palestinians have a right to exist just like the Israelis. Your argument is basically "Why should America exist if the world already has a bunch of white countries??" Stupid and bigoted as usual, EMN.

What she said was not "Israel shouldn't treat Palestinans like that." If she did, I'd agree with her. What she said was closer to "An evil Jewish cabal with money is controlling things."

Yeah, that's absolutely not what she said. You can't deny the fact that pro-Israel (not pro-Jewish) groups lobby our politicians and that for various reasons including evangelical nuttery, Israel gets a special relationship status with the US nobody else really gets.

Yeah, no one's falling for this lie Cardinal. So you can just go ahead and let it go.

Jews are overwhelmingly Democrat for at least one good reason: we know full well that the Republican party is the home for White Supremacists and anti-semites. Republicans' anti-Omar media campaign isn't going to make us forget what we already know.
