Sarah Lawrence College students have a 90 item list of demands from School administration... including:

"3. All campus laundry rooms are to supply laundry detergent and softener on a consistent basis for all students, faculty and staff."

Read: "MOAR TIDE PODS!!"

DEMANDS: Westlands Sit-In 50 Years of Shame — The Phoenix

I think we would be better off building walls around higher education...

Um no it sounds more like the campus laundry rooms are supposed to stock detergent and keep running out/not replacing it for a long period resulting in stinky clothes.

Hmmmm.

I always appreciated people who wore clean clothes to school, particularly when I had to sit next to them.

Well if AOC 's understanding of economics is any indication of what kids know who are graduating with economics degrees at Boston College, we certainly can't look to higher education to provide even the basics to their students. And if more and more universities are condoning the students protesting and rioting to prevent ANY diversity of thought on campus, it gets downright scary.

And now the list you posted would make Karl Marx proud. :)

I don't know what would be more humane. To build the wall around the university with the students inside. Or building it with the students outside so they couldn't get in and would have to deal with realities in the real world.

Considering that the average College Student is paying an arm and a leg for substandard living conditions and an overpriced college education, I don't think some Tide and fabric softener is a ridiculous requests. It's not like Colleges are exactly hurting for money these days.

Thankfully most College students could careless what some old white conservatives think of them, they are preparing for the future

They should buy their own cleaning supplies. Why is this a discussion we even have to have?

If they can't secure their own fabric softener then I don't see them having much of a future.

As long as they don't eat the tide pods....

I know, right...laundry detergent....clean clothes....definite Marxism there. Luckily conservatives don't worry about clean clothes eh?

Did you read the entire list? ;)

How is it that you people are actually siding with these buffoons?

If the college provides the fabric softener then they hire people to acquire, maintain and stock the fabric softener... so the $10 a month for a gallon of Tide ends up as a $500 line item on their college tuition.

And because idiots think they are doing these kids some favor by feeding their delusions, smart kids capable of not toking, drinking and vaping their stipend away every month will be charged the $500 whether they use the school detergent or not.

I do not know any late teen/early 20s person who is not stupid. Lord knows I was...

Note: who can hit that softball out of the park?

I don't swing at taters. At least not 'til they are close enough to see if the fuse is lit. ;)

Because before the military I was a struggling first-generation college student who didn't have the luxury to afford basic necessities. While I wasn't exactly the most well off, I knew others who couldn't always afford laundry detergent, tuition, housing, sustenience, textbooks, and utilities. How detached are you from the common American where economic struggle for college aged Americans are this foriegn to you?

The school makes literal millions off tuition alone from these kids. If the student is living on-campus, they're charged around an additional $16,000 per head. It's absurd to be charged that much money for room and board and to have to pay for something as simple as laundry detergent.

And because idiots think they are doing these kids some favor by feeding their delusions, smart kids capable of not toking, drinking and vaping their stipend away every month will be charged the $500 whether they use the school detergent or not.

Oh **** off. The overwhelming majority of college kids that are first-generation students, or immigrants are blowing their laundry money on julls, and fireball. You don't want to argue about college conditions, you just want to be angry and spiteful to young people.

A few whiny punks do not represent the student body...

Many of those siding with them would want to write letters like these themselves if they had thought of it...

Personal bias will do that to you

demanding Kosher meals be ready on demand and that the University hire a certain number or professors based off of skin color as opposed to qualification and that the college pay for certain race unions, etc... is stupid. They are also being exclusionary... they are excluding Jews, for instance, The students forming a panel to decide which teachers are hired, is stupid. If you find that satisfactory, that is fine. I would tell those kids that they are immature idiots that need to grow up. Go out and make their world or lives better by not demanding others change but by instituting change themselves and attracting people to it. They are ****ing idiots.

Most of us have been college student, CMPancake, and lived to tell about it. We even managed to secure our own laundry supplies without dying of hunger or exposure! I guess we were heartier folk...

Right, and the idiots living in those dorms, and you apparently, don't seem to grasp that any such school-provided supplies WILL BE CHARGED TO THEIR HOUSING BILL at the upcharge of having to employ someone to manage it. That $16,000 will go to $16,500 to support the new Tide Pod coordinator. And that upcharge, 15 years from now, will end up costing them 100% more due to the APR on the loan...

Smart kids would spend less than $100 a year providing their own detergent. Useless brat children will get everyone charged orders of magnitude more so they don't have to budget for it.

Ah, so what you are saying is that the kids demanding that others pay for their laundry detergent are not spending any money on weed, vape or alcohol?

Do you have any information showing that SLC is supposed to be stocking the laundry rooms and isn't doing it?
