Trump: 'Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly'

    3/12/19
President Trump on Tuesday warned about the complexity of modern aircraft after the United Kingdom became the latest country to ground Boeing 737 Max 8 planes in the wake of the latest crash involving the aircraft. "Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly," Trump tweeted. "Pilots are no longer needed, but rather computer scientists from MIT. I see it all the time in many products. Always seeking to go one unnecessary step further, when often old and simpler is far better." "Split second decisions are needed, and the complexity creates danger," he continued. "All of this for great cost yet very little gain. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!"

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement Monday that the planes are safe to fly. “The FAA continuously assesses and oversees the safety performance of U.S. commercial aircraft,” the agency said. “If we identify an issue that affects safety, the FAA will take immediate and appropriate action.” Trump last year took credit for 2017 being the safest year on record in commercial aviation, touting that he had been "very strict on Commercial Aviation."
Who knew that Trump was an aerospace engineer?

Well Donnie, you could always take a train. And don't be afraid to bicycle it, you might even lose a few pounds of blubber.

Related: Trump claims 'old and simpler' airplanes were safer. Such planes actually crashed more often.

Trump makes Republicans choose between him or their principles. The loyalty tests never ever end, and the choice shouldn’t even be difficult.

Digital circuitry is far more "delicate" than is analog. FACT.

My '69 Mach 1 (351C w/Top Loader) will still run in the event of an EMP, for example.

Crucial controls, particularly on takeoff and landing, should be left in the direct control of pilots, not "handed-off" to AI processors, IMHO.

Donald Trump may not be the best judge of what is deemed too complex.

It seems to be a softwear issue that Boeing has been working on already.

    Trumps tweet:

After the U.K. issued its statement about the planes, President Donald Trump on Tuesday tweeted: "Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly. Pilots are no longer needed, but rather computer scientists from MIT.
That is true. There are mechanics doing the maintenance the manual says to do, and the repairs the computer fault list says to do. Between the pilot, the mechanics, and the programmers, we get fuel efficient airplanes. They are way to complicate to fly with "stick and rudder". You might as well bail out. If you could get out. Which you cant'...

    No one has argued otherwise.

The point is the public display of mental retardation on the part of your god, Donnie Moscow.

He has a BS in Economics, from Wharton, which includes calculus and probabilities....not a "BA"....

He has bartered VASTLY COMPLEX international business developments for DECADES.

I think he can opine on that topic just fine....as can about anyone else.

Over complication is NOT GOOD, and engineers often go BONKERS with it. Ask any auto mechanic.

This is the President who thinks stealth technology makes planes invisible to the eye!
