Governments are not companies nor should they be run like companies. And of course governments are unpopular when they are hardly the representation of the democratic ideal. Do we really think the so-called 'government-lovers' on the left are big fans of how our U.S. governments (federal, state, and local) are currently run?

Exactly. In defense of the thread they are only reporting on the poll results - it is the poll itself which is failed since they allowed the government to be considered as a choice when it is not a company.
