Embassy Staffers Say Jared Kushner Shut Them Out of Saudi Meetings

When a member of the administration travels overseas, the embassy often helps coordinate the trip. Not when Jared Kushner meets his buddy MBS.

Officials and staffers in the U.S. embassy in Riyadh said they were not read in on the details of Jared Kushner’s trip to Saudi Arabia or the meetings he held with members of the country’s royal court last week, according to three sources with knowledge of the trip. And that’s causing concern not only in the embassy but also among members of Congress. On his trip to the Middle East, Kushner stopped in Riyadh. While there, he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and King Salman to discuss U.S.-Saudi cooperation, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and economic investment in the region, according to the White House. But no one from the embassy in Riyadh was in the meetings, according to those same sources. Kushner, who has developed a personal relationship with the crown prince, embarked on several trips to Saudi Arabia over the last several years. On one occasion, he traveled overseas without announcing his trip publicly. He often travels to the region with Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt.

When a member of the administration travels to another country, the embassy often helps coordinate the trip and provides some kind of security. This time, though, the Saudi government provided security for Kushner and his entourage, sources said. And the embassy was largely left in the dark on the details of Kushner’s schedule and his conversations with Saudi officials, according to two individuals with knowledge of the trip to the country. The lack of insight into Kushner’s visit to Saudi Arabia has frustrated members of Congress, both Republican and Democrat, who told The Daily Beast that they are actively trying to learn more about the conversations between senior U.S. administration officials and Saudi Arabia. Lawmakers are particularly interested in understanding the back and forth between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia regarding a potential nuclear deal. The Daily Beast reported last week that the Trump administration is still actively working to make a deal to send U.S. nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia and that American energy businesses are still hoping to cash in on Riyadh’s push for energy diversification. Professional staff and officials in the administration said they are interested in the possible connection between efforts by private businesses to engage with Saudi Arabia on nuclear energy and the quiet, ongoing discussions between senior U.S. officials and Riyadh about a deal.

Like Donald Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner is also cutting US officials out of meetings with a foreign head of state. Alarming because of recent revelations that the Trump administration is secretly negotiating to transfer US nuclear technology to the Kingdom and its psychopathic ruler Mohammed bin Salman.

Smart move on his part, because, as we ALL KNOW, any of them leftover from before 2017 would be immediately selling BULL**** to the Fake News/Lying Left as "anonymous insider information" in and attempt to UNDERMINE the Trump Adm.

State Department "officials and staffers"...AKA Deep State/Butt Hurt...whining and crying to the media. Big deal.

Hell, they are lucky they have government regulations that let them keep their jobs.

Trump and Kushner really really really don't want Americans to know what they're talking to foreign leaders about. Hey, they're only pathological liars and criminals who have tried to obscure their business interests in Saudi Arabia. What's the worst that could happen?

If the Trump administration is selling nuclear technology to our enemies (remember 9-11), that SHOULD be undermined. We have a state department and a diplomatic corp for a reason. That reason is preventing half-wits like Trump from doing irreparable damage to our nation by striking deals with other unhinged morons that, especially in the case of nuclear technology, could come back to bite us in the ass.

It is a strange thing to behold Trump's repub party. These are the same people who can fabricate endless capricious connections and asinine conspiracies to impugn liberals and then seem strangely oblivious when their own guy flaunts his corruption right in our faces.

For you to applaud his disregard for established governmental processes is telling of how low the right will go to pretend there's nothing wrong with the Trump crime family. Wow!

Correction, when administration staffers travel to another country, the embassy doesn’t often coordinate the trip, they always coordinate the trip. This is weird. But weird is the new normal I guess.

Leftover Obama Swamp Dep Stater =/= the American People.

So you're trying to make the asinine claim that all diplomatic meetings should be open to the public?

The State Department works for the President...not the other way around. If they don't want to work for Trump, they should leave.

The State Department works for the United States. A fascist would understandably find that comment to be silly and passé.

The State Department doesn't set policy. That's the President's job. The State Department's job is to implement his policy.

If they don't want to do their job, they should leave.

The State Department's job is to implement his policy....

...in the service of the United States, and Trump isn't the United States. A fascist would find this concept to be incredibly quaint.

difficult to implement a policy without knowledge of the other side's understanding about how the policy is expected to be implemented

And by these butt hurt State Department deep state pukes whining and crying to the Trump hating media, they are attempting to prevent their boss from doing his job.

That should be a firing offense and it would be if they weren't protected by ridiculous government regulations.

If they aren't asked to do anything then they should just be quiet and do what they ARE asked to do. No more...and no less.

Their boss is the United States. To a fascist, that statement probably makes no sense at all.

How much of a diplomatic corp do we actually have left? The Saudi's helped Jared with the 666 property in New York. We're getting into scary territory here.

Agreed.

**** it.....just get rid of the checks and balances. Instead of the tradition of people who have been doing things for a long time and have an idea what the hell they are doing, lets just do away with all that and let the President just do whatever the **** he and his surrogates want to with no regard to what it could possibly do to the nation.

That'll work out great, I'm sure.

You really need to drop the partisan crap and think things though.

The State Department isn't part of the "checks and balances".

The State Department isn't part of the "checks and balances".

He didn't say it was, but you certainly seem to believe the conversation begins and ends with "Trump is the boss," which is not only not true, but fascist AF.

The State Department isn't part of the "checks and balances".

Not in the traditional sense, but they WOULD be able to keep someone who had nefarious intentions from enacting those intentions......if they were allowed in the room, that is.

Fancy that.

Are you sure?

I didn't.

The checks and balances portion of that statement was more in regards to things like negating the thoughts of the security people he hired and giving out clearances willy nilly. This really isn't that far off from that, considering that once again, a member of the Trump family met with a foreign head of state with no witnesses to what was spoken of or promised.

Convenient.
