Manafort receives 4 years

Have there been any calls yet to investigate judge TS Ellis?

:lamo

If Ellis wasn't in on the fix, or being blackmailed, he would have thrown the case out last year.

On what grounds...the Republican's are in Power Plan? What a joke. I thank you for leaping to Manafort's defense though. Speaks volumes.

This is the typical right wing judge being put on the benches all over the country. This same judge gave a man whose only crime was bribery 13 years. Bet you can not guess the color of that man's skin. Meanwhile a man who has broken laws almost his entire life and is convicted of multiple crimes including bank fraud and tax evasion gets 47 months which actually means 36 months. And this is what we can continue to expect in the future.

The Mussolini meets Goering Republican Party and appoints Goering to the bench.

Rinse and Repeat. Putin meanwhile checks another box.

Until the power gets shut off.

Constitutional grounds. Violation of the 4th, 5th and 8th Amendments.

Five years off apparently for being white.

Another five for being rich.

Another five for being politically connected.

19 minus 15 is 4. Yeah - it adds up perfectly.

Just think, if he was white, rich, politically connected and female (Hillary Clinton) he never would have been indicted.

The only one who cannot be indicted is the President according to his Justice Department. Isn't that convenient.

I prefer to think of it as privileged v not privileged. That the privileged tend to be Right leaning makes it a Left v Right sort of thing. But we have had a problem with our view of white collar crime for decades in this country reflected in this Judge's sentencing. The fact that the "white" tends not to end at the collar is as important as the color of the collar.

The judge and the defense attorney gave it away, "there is no evidence of Russian collusion."

They both broadcast this, unsolicited. WTF?

If that is not political nothing is.

Oh BTW, that would be Richard Milhous Nixon's DoJ in 1973 and William Jefferson Clinton's DoJ in 2000.

We need to test that opinion - and I know just the way to do it.

Furthermore, if Trump is indicted by the New York state legal system they are NOT bound by the Justice Dept opinion.

This matter needs to be settled.

The Manafort attorney's comments should not be unexpected.

That is actually not what Judge Ellis said. He said that the "case before him did not involve collusion" and he is right about that. The cases before him did not involve collusion.

That still does not create any logical path to his sentencing. We expected Ellis not to go the limit max. But that was a wholly uncalled for low sentence having nothing to do with Manafort's involvement in the Presidential campaign or any other factor of potential collusion.

Manafort is a bonafide dirtbag who made millions of $$ working for ruthless killers and kleptocrats literally engaged in a genuine effort to rape a country (the Ukraine) for Russian friends of Putin and Putin himself. Had they succeeded, it actually would have been worse in some ways than Putin crossing the border with tanks in a military invasion and taking the Ukraine back. in the process Manafort scammed over $30M in taxes that he should have paid on that money he made as what amounts to a pawn of Russia and a Ukrainian thug. Manafort burned through all that money AND the money he did not pay to the IRS and was left to try to scam banks to get more!

Far more disconcerting than Ellis's comment about collusion was his comment that Manafort has for the most part led an otherwise "blameless life". Ellis is just completely detached from reality and utterly sold out to money made regardless of how made and the privileges of those that have it no matter how they made it.

(Judge Ellis)

Did Ellis really say that?

****, Chris Watts led an otherwise blameless life before he strangled his pregnant wife and smothered his 2 daughters so he could be with his mistress. Let's reduce his sentence.

Irrelevant. The case before Ellis had nothing to do with collusion.

The case against Manafort also had nothing to do with Enron, murder, and stealing a puppy either. Why didn't he weigh in on those non-issues too?

Because he is a prima donna Judge with a hair across his butt. Attorney's please feel free to weigh in how many of these creatures there are out there particularly in the Federal System.

Ellis was trying to make that case that but for Manafort's link to Trump, he would not have been Indicted and THAT is what is irrelevant. He did the crimes, crimes that follow on to a wholly disgusting life. He was Indicted and Convicted and well deserved a stiffer sentence.

Worth mentioning that Judge Ellis broke his own rule about any mentioning of Russian Collusion 3 times in this trial including his comment on the way out the door of the trial.
