The former editor of National Review put it this way:

“Conservatives have spent over half a century disproving the claim that we are the stupid party. Now, under Trump, conservatism is embracing, indeed reveling in...stupidity.”

Kristol is among the intellectual conservatives who broke from Trump long ago.

I disagree with this. Conservatives have been cultivating the stupid for the past half century, now they keep what they have sowed.

What could possibly be 'intellectual' about Kristol? He's historically supported every bad idea regarding both foreign and domestic policy. He's further condemning Trump daily on Twitter, while Trump furthers the policies Kristol and his former Communist Party father popularized! I think he's really upset that theres very little market left for his brand, which he torpedoed by opposing Trump during the good old/bad old populist days, prior to Bannon's offing.

And even Kristol is a dip****.

Yeah, that 39% boost in my 401k and investment accounts is hard to take. As seeing economic growth, record job creation. Wage growth. Over a half million manufacturing jobs created and people Obama drove out of the work force coming back into the force, fewer people needing food stamps. I can't tell you how much sleep I lose over that.

Economic Growth?....The Dow has been flat as a pancake the last 6 months

And Trump did all that? Amazing!

Still a scumbag who was part of the failed neocon apparatus but yes he is right.

He's a neocon expressing dissatisfaction with another neocon. Why exactly? Because the other neocon says mean words?

Agreed. A small faction of Kristol and fellow travellers have been trying to cultivate a more intellectual wing of the Republican party and consistently failed against the chinless masses led by Fox news, talk radio hosts and salacious websites. Trump is the culmination of that triumph of stupidity and is in no way stealing the rug from under Kristol and Co. They lost long ago; and he - or someone like him - had become inevitable.

Then you're a fiscal conservative, I take it. Trump's abandoned 'America First' ethos can be revised as 'Me First'.

Since when?

I keep telling you...and you just don't get it.

The Dow is not the economy. It never was.

Really?....Tell that to folks on Wall Street and the millions of investors....You are clueless

He's right salad. The Dow is just the accumulated price of owning 1 share of stock from 30 American companies which represent some of the strongest large American companies, at the moment. Companies are listed and delisted as their performance changes. There's more calculations which go into determining the Dow price, but this represents the basics.

Yep, very well said!

Yeah, generally fiscal conservative. No comment on your idiotic second sentence.

And Trump did all that? Amazing!
His economy policies and programs did most of it. Trump also convinced financial decision makers that he was on their side.

Why does it matter? He is a man without a country. He repudiates Donald Trump and the mainstream Republican Party, but if he was doing for the love of the Democrats and the Left, his gestures are in vain. As demonstrated by the attitude many posters here, even if he is morally consistent and intellectually honest, that does not matter. The fact that he is a conservative (and *gasp* a neoconservative at that!) means that he is beyond any moral redemption since once you are on the wrong team, no moral credit can ever be given to you.

Hi! I work on "Wall Street." Words haven't been invented to describe how mistaken you are.

Since when?

Not everyone invests in assets that track the market. That is usually a tactic investors use when 1) they don't wish to pay exorbitant management fees or 2) just don't know what they're doing.

Once Trump is relegated to the scrap heap of history pundits such as Kristol and George Will will be proven correct. The party has lost its way. They baloon defecits, and negotiate directly with despots. Barry Goldwater must be rolling in his grave, though I doubt the average Trump supporter even knows who Goldwater is much less have read a single page of Conscience of s Conservative.

If Trump isn't a Conservative, why would they care who Barry Goldwater is?

So far, Trump is doing better than previous "Conservatives" before him. That is why his approval rating is so high within his own party...
