South Dakota governor says Trump trade wars have 'devastated' the state

Virginia's federal and state maps have actually both changed recently. Their federal maps changed before the 2016 election, (part of the reason Dems have a majority of the House delegation now), and the state House maps are changing prior to this year's.

As for the House, if you know that Republicans have control you likely also know how that leadership was determined (tied vote required drawing a name from a bowl).
VA’s most populated areas have been trending Democratic for the last 12+ years, 6 of our last 10 governors have been Dems (including 2 of the last 3), both of our Senators are Democrats, and my district’s new Congressperson is a Dem.
There is nothing to indicate any chance of an easy flip back to the GOP.

With those new 2016 maps, GOPs still won 7 of 11 VA seats in 2016. In 2018, 3 of them flipped, 2 very close, which could be flipped back in 2020. 2018 was clearly about #45. We do t know what 2020 will be about yet.

Why do we have all of these new maps being drawn this decade from those drawn in 2011, especially with a GOP Federal Judiciary? GA, FL, NC, TX, MI, PA, ME, MT, KY, and VA all have new federal and/or state maps this decade.

As for VA’s state maps being redrawn for 2020, only one term out of five for this decade hardly makes up for the systemic damage done.

I see that Delegate map is only good for 2019, and it’s already been appealed to the SCOTUS. And you already know both of your chambers are up in 2019, with GOPs only leading 21-19 and 51-49. If you flip both, you should get positive remaps in 2021 before Northam is gone.

With my in-laws being farmers, you can imagine how difficult it is to read the complete ignorance and moronic nonsense from both extremes. The last thing I should ever do is rub the actions of this insane maniac from chaos in my in-laws’ faces.

Unfortunately China is 10 times a bigger bully than Trump is and you are seeing how tough it has been to take down Trump. Bullies .need to be punished for sure but fighting fire with fire, actually fighting fire with just a match is not going to work.

You need people with more brains that Trump and his trade minister to beat China at their game. Trump is going to fail and be looked upon as a fool

Yes, the map will require updating in 2020. The map, drawn by an impartial master, has already successfully passed several hurdles. The appeal to SCOTUS is a Hail Mary attempt IMO. As for the balance of power at the state level, for better or worse, Trump’s consistently low approval will likely continue to be a contributing factor, as much or more than local politics, in the expansion of Dem control.
