To the tune of trillions of dollars. Next probably comes Native Americans and the Japanese. Where's all that money going to come from? Warren wanted a wealth tax to pay for childcare so I guess this money isn't coming from the wealthy. Then we've also got Medicare For All and free college.

Senator Elizabeth Warren backs reparations for black Americans

who knows. She can declare a national emergency and take what she wants from wherever - thanks to the GOP.

This is certainly not a binary issue, and I understand the ambivalence from both sides, but what's your argument against reparations?

What are your thought on reparations?

Americans of Japanese heritage who were interned already compensated.

You should really consider learning history. I recommend it to everyone.

That bill was paid with the blood of the civil war soldiers that freed the slaves.

Maybe black americans should be taxed and the money paid to decendents of those soldiers.

At what DNA percentage is the cut off? Does 5% of sub-Saharan African suffice? Or does one have to prove ancestry line like for Native Americans?

Awful idea, way too many consequences to this thinking.

The reparations concept very closely resembles a class action lawsuit. How would you precisely define the plaintiff class and the defendant class? Would each member of the defendent class be required to pay the same amount? Would each member of the plaintiff class recieve the same amount?

Wow!

Just, wow.

I honestly do enjoy that you bring a different perspective on this, it's just comes off hateful and narrow in perspective. You seem to ignore the racism post Civil War that has resulted in generations of poverty.

So they both are demanding the government take everyone's dna sample to determine who is black - and at what percentage - and then match all people with black ancestry to determine what black percentage is a percentage that has slave ancestry?

The Democratic Party's dream-come-true! To literally have a "BLACK list" of every American. Anytime the Democratic Party can think of any way to pursue its slavery and KKK past it will do so.

No good deed goes unpunished. The Democratic Party declares all descendants of Northern Civil War soldiers who died and their families likely wiped out should be punished for slavery - and asserts all blacks in the USA are descendants of slaves and not the descendants of slave traders like President Obama.

The two also are ratifying the only white supremacist stance of "1 drop of blood" makes a person non-white. In the age of slavery - ie Democratic Party years - having ANY non-white ancestry makes a person no longer qualified to be in the white race. Thus, Elizabeth Warren isn't white because she has some NA dna.

The Democratic Party wants those days of documenting absolute white purity back! They absolutely do not want any mongrels - even if 1/1032th non-white - to ever be allowed to be white people nor any of their prodigy forever. WHITE PURITY is at the heart of the Democratic Party's roots and they want those days back.

Go back to post #1. Hint: trillions of dollars. Where's it coming from?

Nobody ever asks Republicans how they intend to pay for their continued tax cuts for the rich, or how we intend to pay for the continued war on drugs, or how we intend to pay for what is essentially a blank check for the military. That right there explains part of the problem.

Ummmmmmm. You need to go back to post #1. Trillions. Not one trillion, not two trillion, trillions! That's on top of the 22 trillion we already owe. Are you saying you are in favor of running up the national debt to 30 trillion in order to make reparations? Then who's next? How about every descendant of Native Americans? 40 trillion? What number do you want to stop at? And, none of this even takes into account funding MFA and free college. 50 trillion?

Ah, so if it was less then you would approve of reparations. I guess what it comes down to then is a discussion of what the appropriate number is and the basis for how we distribute those reparations.

Actually, they do, all the time.

The answer is always "spending cuts," but then people like you howl, and pretend no answer was given.

(Not that you "pay for" a tax reduction any more than you "pay for" any other lowering of revenue; that's conceptual stupidity.)

Don't approve of reparations at all because then it would never stop once a precedent has been set. Every person who has ever been wronged on anything gets reparations. How many reparations does Trump and the right get for being falsely accused with the Jussie Smollet and Covington Catholic things? Shouldn't everyone on the right receive reparations?

Well, I've already paid full reparations to every slave I have ever owned, and their progeny , so....I'm GOOD!

Hey..I have Irish immigrant ancestors...don't the British owe me for the potato famine ???!!!!

You don't approve of reparations at all. Why the smokescreen about "trillions added to the national debt" then? Have you ever started a thread honestly?

Injun' Liz claims 1/1024 is sufficient. That's pretty much everybody. So everybody gets their own money back.
