Man accused of having 3 wives in 3 states awaits extradition

BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) — Maine prosecutors say New Hampshire will have first dibs on a man who is accused of being married to three women in different states.

Forty-three-year-old Michael Middleton is being held in Ohio while awaiting extradition to New Hampshire, where he’s charged with bigamy. Officials say he married a New Hampshire woman while also being married to women in Alabama and Georgia.

I think that is apples and oranges, I.E. not the same thing.
From a legal perspective a marriage is a contract between two people, now expanded to be between any two consenting adults. (young bride exceptions).
bigamy I think would involve one individual entering into a second contract, that they are no longer legally able to enter.
Like Enron, putting up their pipeline network for escrow on a loan, and then using the same pipeline network
as escrow for an additional six loans. The first escrow bound the collateral from being used in future loans.
