Trump White House Is Forcing Interns to Sign NDAs and Threatening Them With Financial Ruin

What exactly is everyone supposed to be outraged about? I would be very surprised to learn that NDAs weren’t commonplace in sensitive positions like working in the White House.

It was not.

Can't really call it a deflection when it is an answer to your statement. Where did I complain about leaks? I have read your posts a lot. I know you hate Trump with a passion. I actually want him out too, but I don't have the same blinding passion your posts do. NDAs are so normal Obama did many of them and I don't blame him. It's part of doing business in this day and age. Give me a real reason to call out the crazy dude in office and I will sign on. This... well, it's weak.

Link?

So they should never institute a policy that changes how things are done? Even if it makes sense in a secure environment? Why do we have elections again?

As for running the whitehouse better, you won't get an argument on that point. I'm as down on Trump as anyone, but I just don't see the alarm in a fairly common business practice getting implemented.

An NDA isn't the way to make sure secure information or communications don't get out. That's why we have security clearances and classified information. By all reporting, these NDA's are generic "you won't talk about anything that happens inside these walls period" which are far too broad and aren't really enforceable. Trump is using them as a fear tactic.

Link? I have not heard of Obama using NDA's. It sounds sketchy to me, and I'm essentially positive that he didn't make any workers/officials in the white house sign them.

Links have been provided in this thread. I will say that I have done some searching and the only places I see info about Obama using NDAs are on pretty biased sites and the one official OMB page doesn't specify anything about when the practice was put in place. I'm willing to eat that sentence.

If, in fact, the NDAs are that open and generic, they won't be enforceable by any stretch. They would indeed be a scare tactic. They obviously haven't worked at all if that is the case as we have been told everything from his daughter's emails to his daily mood. I have to say this is just shocking to me since he's been so effective in every other practice (yes, this is sarcasm).

Security clearance does provide penalties. I just don't have any problem with backing up that security with NDAs. Especially if they are badly worded. This is the whitehouse. Security is vital. Stuff will always get out, but attempts have to be made. I wouldn't have a problem with a Dem or even Libertarian admin doing the same thing.

The only link I see is on this thread is a link from a*** from the heavily biased website Freedomoutpost.... You swear the Obama administration used NDAs regularly but have failed to provide any evidence whatsoever to support your claim. a*** and a right wing rag do not count as evidence.

Did you even bother to read the first paragraph before rephrasing it?

;)

If the NDA is between the White House and the intern, then I am fine with that. I signed many an NDA when I worked for the government. If the NDA, however, is between TRUMP and the intern, then that is not ok. Once Trump is no longer President he should no be able to personally sue an intern for discussing what they did. The government may, if it chooses to.

So do we know which it is?
