Kamala Harris Wants To Get Rid Of Columbus Day

You have to realize you are not talking to very highly educated or sophisticated people here. For them, “socialism” just means something like “yucky”- as in:

1) I hate broccoli. It’s so socialist!

Or
2) morning rush hour traffic is so socialist!

Or
3) plumber’s crack is what happens when you have socialism!

We're having some very socialist weather here in New York today.

What is "socialist" about her request? Seriously, look at the definition of socialism and let us all know what is socialist about the change.

There is nothing socialist about her request. Moderate Right has been lying for 2 days and saying that Harris is a socialist.

The Kawala Bear is already showing signs of getting desperate to come up with catchy new dummycrap ideas in an attempt to generate support among the down and ignorant.

Yep. Hillary had "Stronger Together"

Harris has "For the People"

He brought Western Civilization to the New World. No Columbus, no United States of America. I know some people think that Western Civilization or how it got here is bad, but when you consider that much of the world today lives in bondage, the fact that there IS a United States of America is worth celebrating.

:ind::allhail Christopher Columbus :allhail:ind:

Except Leif Erickson made it to the New World before Columbus did. And the indigenous people were here before all of them.

No, it's about something other than that. It's about attacking the white European heritage of America and either minimizing or burying it. That's all it's really about.

Considering how titanically nasty many of those white European treasure hunters—-and to be frank, that’s really what they were at the end of the day—-were......your wailing falls flat.

Thanks. Most indigenous peoples perished due to European diseases against which they had no defense. Funny how the leftists always ignore that. They also ignore that this wasn't some peaceful utopia. Native peoples warred on each other and enslaved each other, too.

And yet the Europeans managed to take enslaving and slaughtering to new heights.

Funny how that happens.

Yep. Hillary had "Stronger Together"

Harris has "For the People"

Booker has "Spartacus to the Rescue." Warren has "Power to the Original Americans." Blumentahl has "Elect Vietnam Rambo to sane the nation."

I was just thinking the same thing....

What does removing Columbus Day have to do with any economic system ?

There are too many holidays...let's be conservative and scrap President's Day.

Was America a Spanish colony? Columbus was working for Spain, not Britain. Columbus was looking for India and stumbled upon the Caribbean islands.

You can celebrate mass murderers if you like. Why not celebrate Stalin? He defeated Hitler. Let's just ignore that mass murder stuff.

The natives were running around in loin clothes when Erikson showed up and they were running around in loin cloths hundreds of years after he presumably landed here. (And, incidentally, where exactly was that?)

Erikson landed in Newfoundland in 999 AD. You didn't know that?

No, they weren't running around in loin clothes (sic) in Newfoundland. It's too cold.

You do know where Newfoundland is, correct?

So what reason do you think Columbus should be celebrated for? I'm not seeing the extremism here, what actions did Columbus do that deserves to be celebrated?

Right, he should have stayed home in Italy. Europeans should never have come here with their smallpox. The USA should never have existed. Why should we celebrate a country that has been unfair to so many? In fact, we should hand the whole thing back to the Indians and we could all go live in Siberia.

Let me guess...she's "part Cherokee"....

LOL. No actually Kamala is already a minority which puts her in a privileged class of a sort, but honestly I hate that the radical left is trying to destroy all of America's history and heritage in favor of how they intend to rewrite it.

Columbus isn't recognized because he was a noble person or because some of the consequences of his generation were not acceptable in this one, but because he dared to take a dangerous and daring adventure that resulted in opening up of the Americas to a great migration. And for all the good and all the bad that is inherent in ANY great migration, it did result in the great nation that is the United States of America.

But the left won't allow us to even recognize, much less acknowledge the history, both the good and the bad, that made us what we are today. They want to reshape and remake this country into something of their own making and that requires erasing most of what we have learned from our history other than what they want us to believe however distorted that is.

So given the actions of Columbus, what do you think he did that deserves to be celebrated?

Doing what he did, in those days, having really no idea where he was going, was pretty damn courageous.

So if we don’t celebrate him you get all weepy, got it. More reason to not celebrate him is it gets the snowflake white supremecists pissed off.

These socialists show their true colors more and more every day.

Kamala Harris Supports Changing Columbus Day To Indigenous People’s Day

Mexico squares this circle. It’s called, if I remember correctly, Dia de la Raza, honoring the mix of Europe and indigenous peoples. But this issue has been around for a while. Google “He was gay, Gary Cooper?” for a wonderful treatise on this topic in an episode of The Sopranos. Tony Soprano gives a great speech at the end in his car.

thank you for the sanity.

Was it also courageous when he slaughtered the indigenous group?

The Native Americans got beat. Some win and some lose, and it has always been like that. The Native Americans were tough and good fighters, and might have won if not for diseases like smallpox which they had never encountered and were not immune to.

Liberals seem to think the Native Americans were peaceful wimps who just sat there and got clobbered. That was not generally true.

On the other hand, the European culture was far more advanced technologically at that time. The Indians may have been better fighters, but the Europeans had better weapons.

But that's life, that's history, and it's over. I personally do not care if Columbus was a rat in some ways. So was every historical hero. So get over it, please (I know you won't).

Now we have the luxury of being peaceful wimps, with huge arsenals protecting us. But back then people had to fight. We still have vicious warfare now, but its mostly verbal and online.

Doing what he did, in those days, having really no idea where he was going, was pretty damn courageous.

He got lost. Then when he saw the gold earrings the indigenous people wore he took them prisoner and demanded they lead him to the gold. So courageous.

And when the natives resisted he tortured them and made gruesome examples of those who resisted.

So what reason do you think Columbus should be celebrated for? I'm not seeing the extremism here, what actions did Columbus do that deserves to be celebrated?

Umm...he got lost and found islands that had already been discovered?

:)
