'It's called the First Amendment': Pundits decry Trump call for 'retribution' against 'SNL'

If I have a chance, I would vote for President Trump again in a New York minute. He's been doing a very good job in the face of unprecedented and vicious opposition.

BUT I agree that he should stop his angry tweets.

And he should learn to laugh at himself.

For example, he should definitely attend the Washington Correspondents' annual dinner. His appearance would earn C-SPAN something that it rarely gets: huge ratings.

As for SNL, it should be below his dignity to refer to its skits.

Many of the President's supporters agree that his manner at times is a little too "colorful" for his own good. I hope that our gracious First Lady will have a heart-to-heart with him.

FLOTUS better be on top during that 'heart to heart' lest she get smothered by Fat Donnie. just sayin'

What did you bring her up for? Because you think she is higher ranked than Fox? She's obviously higher that the cellar dwelling MSNBC. Do they even cover news?

Now you can't even follow your own terrible logic.

You brought up Fox being highly rated and kicking everyone elses asses. I simply pointed to another highly rated show and explained that it is mostly false as well. High ratings =/= truthful was the point of bringing her up.

Hope that helps.

Could be, but I know humor when I see it. So you don't have an example of SNL dinging a politician. Thanks for trying.

Great to see this asshole trump get upset when SNL kicks his fat ass.....and it will continue no matter how much trump runs his mouth

If you watched last nights show they did a segment where they mocked Trump, Schumer and Pelosi. Check it out

I haven't watched SNL since Dana Carvey left. They have been downhill ever since.

If by "retribution" he means criticism -- fine.

If by "retribution" he means legally force them to shut up -- um, no. SNL can make fun of whoever they want, however they want.

agree completely.

I've been watching SNL for more than 20 years, I've never seen the level of animosity and derangement for any other President.

That is because Trump is the biggest joke of a President that has ever existed. In addition , he is the biggest danger to our Democracy that ever existed. SNL is doing what they do best, expose the President for his weaknesses and we all know how many weaknesses he has, more than any any President has ever had.

nope, not call for any "investigation" of the qualify of TV blather. Never even seen any suggestion of that.
You take the art of creating strawmen arguments to a new height.

Oh come on Bulllseye, don't tell me that this isn't exactly how Trump talks, acts and is?

As have all the late night shows. They've turned into leftist preaching and DNC issued talking points which have no humorous content in the least.

They are not like Johnny Carson or Jay Leno.

WTF does he mean, "should be looked into?" It's a comedy show. Nothing needs to be looked into at all, you whiny moron.

How pathetic. All this guy does is attack people who make fun of him, why can't he take a joke? He always does the most outlandish stuff and then says he was joking. Double Standards donny? Alec Baldwin hit a nerve? No one is being unfair to you.

'It's called the First Amendment': Pundits decry Trump call for 'retribution' against 'SNL'

Sounds like a threat to me. "Retribution", huh?

So now we have the POTUS threatening a television network because they hurt his feelings. What a sick, pathetic man. Nixon is thankful that someone overtook him in the paranoia department. But at least Nixon was smart and a good President. When he wasn't committing crimes.

Thank you for your interest. What is cute is that Fox kicks their butt.

Fox News kicks SNL's butt? Really? What show does Fox News have on at the same time as SNL? And please link to the ratings so we can verify your claim.

Wrong, yugely. SNL totally kicks Hannity’s (Fox netwwork’s highest rated program) ass with an average of 9 million viewers to the Trump whisperer’s 3 million.

Leno hates Trump, and absolutely would mock him if he were still on the Tonight Show.

* Carson would’ve also hated and mocked Trump.

Isn't that comparing apples and oranges? Comparing a news opinion / talk show with is alleged to be a comedy show?

I see a lot of supposition, especially on Carson's opinion. I've not heard what Leno thinks of Trump, and I'm not sure that it really matters in the context of my post, as I was recalling how humorous Leno was, as opposed to how humorless and politically advocating the late night shows are of today (and still believe they are funny, which they are not).

The liberal hypocrisy at it again.
they never said a word when obama was threatening fox news.

all you heard was crickets.

unfortuantly for the majority of the leftist you just have to ignore what they say because
it is just one outrage after another with these people and they are about as consistent
in their arguments as swiss cheese.

i agree. if he meant criticism then fine if he meant something else then that is a huge no.

Talk to smallvoice. He was first to make the comparison.

I see a lot of personal opinion, especially regarding what is humorous and what isn’t.

As for Leno, he’s been clear on what he thinks of Trump: “Look, I don’t like Trump at all. I don’t like him personally, I didn’t like when he was on my show. I don’t care for the man. It has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats; anyone who calls John McCain not a hero, I’m sorry, you lost me on that one.”
Jay Leno: Taking jabs at Trump would be more fun if he liked him | What's on TV | tucson.com

Carson was a liberal and more importantly, a caring person, so guessing that he would not like Trump isn’t a stretch.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

But anyways, lol at anyone defending these idiotic triggered Trump comments. What is he "looking into" exactly?

Oh, I KNOW I can't tell YOU. Never a doubt. Your opinions are set like concrete.
