Bernie Sanders records video announcing 2020 campaign - POLITICO

Bernie Sanders, inching closer to a second bid for the White House, has recorded a campaign video in which he says he is running for president in 2020, according to two people familiar with the spot.

It’s the latest sign the independent senator, the runner-up in the 2016 contest for the Democratic nomination, is nearing a presidential announcement.

Another hint that Sanders is getting closer to a launch: As POLITICO reported this week, the Sanders team has been interviewing people for top staff positions. Chuck Rocha, a political consultant who advised Sanders’ 2016 campaign, is expected to join him again if a second bid materializes.

Didn't the DNC pass a rule that states in order to run as a democrat you have to join the party?

I'm pretty sure that most demorats would rather have Bernie run for POTUS as demorat than as an independent.

I don't disagree, I was asking for clarification.

I’m guessing he will do what he normally does: switch to Democrat right before filing as a candidate. Unfortunately it is the only way he can do it in our screwed up two party system.

You'd think he'd learn his lesson by now. Still, I'm glad he isn't giving up to the establishment Democrats.

I think he would be more influential in the senate or as a secretary of state personally

I still don't see him officially declaring.

Did the DNC pass that rule? They may have - just don't remember hearing about it.

There were lots of Dems here this weekend. Some are still here. Booker, Harris, Gillibrand.....all getting decent crowds, too.

I think he's running.

DNC panel adopts rule requiring candidates to run, serve as a Democrat | TheHill

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) adopted a new rule on Friday aimed at keeping outsider candidates like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) from trying to clinch the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020.

The new rule, adopted by the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee, requires all Democratic presidential candidates to be a member of the Democratic Party, Yahoo News reported.

A presidential candidate running for the Democratic nomination must be a member of the party, accept the Democratic nomination and “run and serve” as a member.

I think you're right. It would good for him to run though. Look at how much he has shifted the rhetoric in the Democratic party.

If Democrats think he is the best candidate to beat Trump, I will support him.

Donald Trump has GOT to be STOPPED.

I'm not a fan but I like his campaign shirts.
